Welp, guess I can update this jank. Copy & Paste time..

Well it's been a long time coming for an update... Been rather busy with other things + fixing the track car in between breaking it at VIR and Summit, but now thats over I've had some time to work on the Hype.

I went ahead and bought some Skunk2 LMA's from VPR (Thanks Victor) to replace what I thought were worn out LMA's in my head. So when I went to tear down the head I came to the pretty weird discovery, the LMA's were not put back in my head from the machine shop. I contacted them and they were very awesome to work with, and luckily I never really put load on the engine without the LMA's installed.

This made for a pretty simple swap in (didn't have to take the rockers out) and then went about re-tensioning the timing belt, etc.. I also fixed some small things here and there such as swapping the poon mirrors on, switching over to coolant, tearing into my blower motor and replacing a bunch of shit when it was really just a plug I forgot to plug in Sad

Also did a nut and bolt check on a majority of the components (hint: the bolts that attach the caliper to the knuckle is 80 ft/lbs, I'd check this bolt alot for track guys).

I do have one problem with the car at this moment that I need to dig into more... The car sometimes is stubborn to turn over and start. The car did sit outside at the body shop during the warmer months of summer so I initially thought it was the main relay because I couldn't hear the fuel pump prime over. So i swapped in another used main relay I had sitting around and it seemed to remedy the problem, but the car seems to be doing it again. Any ideas?

Onto some pics and video:

Need to figure out my fuel problem -- either replacing the pump + sender unit just to get it over with. Also the car is getting PDR'd sometime in December, excited to see the results from that. So many dings from previous owners and age.

How is there possibly even old parts on this car to replace at this point?

Didn't you just get it painted? I'm really surprised you didn't get the PDR done before hand so that they could address any dings that couldn't be taken care of then. Or maybe I'm missing something...

I thought the same thing. Dent removal before painting seems logical?

Heh, there is always that something that you forget to replace I think. I actually cleaned up the wiring plugs and added some dielectric grease as a test to see if it would change anything. Haven't taken the car out yet to verify, but it seemed better just idling.

Not sure if I made it clear, but the fuel pump not priming was intermittent so I'm unsure if its on its way out, but then again it did sit for almost 2 years w/o being used. The fuel sending unit is supposedly something that craps out with lots of Integra's. I picked up a new fuel pump + sending unit just in case if the problem comes back again, or just change it anyway.

PDR -- I only had the new body pieces painted (fenders --> forward, and the rear bumper, and mirrors). The car could defintely use a whole respray, but at this point I don't really care. There are so many dings and dents on the body so I'm excited to see how it will turn out, maybe it will motivate me to let a buddy paint the car, but first I need to start hoarding Acura window moldings, etc before they get discontinued.

It's basically getting PDR'd from the fenders back. The new body panels don't have a dent, except where my asshole girlfriend may have leaned on the fender and supposedly caused a dent.

Whatever, it's just a car.

Makes sense about the PDR/paint, I was mistaken. Still had to bust your chops about having a used part on the car. Next you'll be getting a new dash console because it doesn't match the rest of the trim... Smile

I may have priced out new interior panels... :|

Dropped the car off for PDR, should be getting it back sometime this week. While driving the car to the shop some CEL's popped up. Guess I did my research incorrectly and was missing a sensor that my ECU does look for...! Supposedly fixing one, might actually fix the other CEL (sometimes gets triggered when another CEL pops up).

I'm just gonna copy and paste this from another forum, hopefully it still is read-able..

Update 1 - 12.8.2013
----------------

Quick shot of the PDR work -- this is just one of the good size dents in the car that was removed... Lots of minor dings were taken out of the doors, etc -- pretty happy with it.

But with any good moment with this car comes the crapy part it seems -- Was taking the car back to storage and basically the battery was dead. Odd -- we jumped the car, and about 1/2 mile from my house it died on the side of the road.

Was able to get the battery from my Civic and pop it in and drive it back to my house where we ran some tests on the battery + alternator.. seems like I may have got a crappy alternator from VatoZone, still need to a dig a little deeper and make sure its not something else [wondering if the ELD may have something to do with it]

Update 2 - 3.1.2014
---------------
Welp.... I'll keep this short. Been having alternator problems (not charging the battery when on). Come to find out Canadian 97R harness I picked up doesn't have ELD wiring + ALTC, which no Canadian cars actually have.

Bought a junk GSR cabin harness to murder for ELD wiring... Swapped that over today to the R, and the alternator still doesn't work.

Didn't realize the ALTC was missing till after this, so I went back to depin that form the GSR harness but it's beer:30 so maybe I'll see if that works tomorrow.

If not, one step closer to selling this POS.

Update 3 - 3.2.2014
------------

Welp, went at it again in the garage today. This time I brought some spare alt. brackets to test out versus the powdercoated ones I have on there.

And.....

So yeah... be sure if you paint/powdercoat your alt brackets that you are sure to leave bare metal for the contact points on the alt.

Good learning experience overall... but gat damn I'm glad that's over with. Onto the next problem.
