Subaru WRX and STI owners ('02 - '05)...get in here

My old stage 4 WRX turned about 27mpg average on the highway from what I remember, about 21-22 mixed driving. It had only 1 high flow cat which helped. When it was stock it was lower, probably closer to 23 hwy / 20 city.
My STi on the pump gas map (~450whp) was always driven spiritedly so it was pretty dismal. You could watch the fuel gauge drop at full boost.

Were either one of these cars ever in "just" a stage 2 trim (tune with TBE)?

Sorry I missed this post. Yes the WRX was. It was running a rich OTS accessport tune though...I want to say I got like 20/25mpg?

So I checked on insurance for an '05 STI (the newest year I'd buy)....it's more than my freakin' Cobra! WTF!?!?! Even with an absolutely spotless driving record State Farm wants $85 a month, does this sound about right to you guys? That seems pretty steep to me for a four cylinder car, turbocharged or not. :dunno:

I've been getting just under 24 mpg so far; but I think once the fun/newness wears off, that number will climb some...

06 STi is $78 month

I'm 23 and these are both full coverage with Allstate - $500 deductible

Fuckers it must have been my tickets. I only ever had 1 or 2 at a time. I want to say it used to be at like $200+/month per Subaru. When I owned two Subarus and another car it was like $300+/month for multi car. The IS300 wasn't cheap to insure either. My TL-S is finally down to like $110/month with one accident on my record which should be coming off this year.

Anyway, I'm still undecided on what to do. I was bored the other day so after a little digging through State Farm's website I discovered that a brand new Raptor is actually cheaper for me to insure than a six year old STI....

Ha I hear ya. My monthly payments have generally always been a lot higher than that, so it's all relative As long as I can afford it, with as much driving as I do it's not worth it for me to save a few hundred a month and buy a junker when my car is my mobile office.


Back on topic though, I really miss my first Subaru. It was super comfortable and a great all around car. If you're still debating it I would definitely go for it, and I would look in the direction like Dave did. The new WRXs are so close to the new STis it's unreal.

I honestly don't know what I want right now. I kinda want a truck, kinda want a Subaru, kinda don't want to spend any money and just keep daily the turd I've got now till it blows up. :lol:

I do know that when I get a new DD it probably won't be until winter or maybe even next spring.

Lee's STi was lucky if it got 12 mpg when I was commuting in town/around base. 18 while traveling across state lines.
But I have a real heavy foot.
