In my 05 wrx that had 300whp+ with a great tune saw 27mpg on the hwy. Stock rating is somewhere around 25mpg for hwy
In my 05 STi that had 400whp+ with a self tune (all from previous owner) was seeing about 21mpg on the hwy. The car is back to stock now (still on jackstands)

Our '04 WRX was low 20s in town, high 20s on the interstate.

My old stage 4 WRX turned about 27mpg average on the highway from what I remember, about 21-22 mixed driving. It had only 1 high flow cat which helped. When it was stock it was lower, probably closer to 23 hwy / 20 city.
My STi on the pump gas map (~450whp) was always driven spiritedly so it was pretty dismal. You could watch the fuel gauge drop at full boost.

Mine is just stage 2 trim and falls pretty close to these. Low 20s in town if you aren't hitting full boost everytime you take off and high 20s on the highway. I've seen 28 once on the highway but that's really about all you can get

I'm kinda surprised by how well these cars do on gas. Granted they are four cylinders but the performance/power they have is even more impressive when you take into consideration the around town MPG's they're still able to pull down. I'm used to barely double digit fuel mileage around town from my pig, but on the highway I'll get 26-28mpg. :dunno:
I own the automotive gas mileage equivalent of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Yea it's pretty impressive when you think about it. But, you have to think, it runs the same A/F as an N/A car when you're driving normally. Once you start to get into boost the A/F starts to dip into the 13s and down to around 11 if you are WOT. But up until that point, it's almost a regular 2.0 liter with a free flowing 3" exhaust

So I checked on insurance for an '05 STI (the newest year I'd buy)....it's more than my freakin' Cobra! WTF!?!?! Even with an absolutely spotless driving record State Farm wants $85 a month, does this sound about right to you guys? That seems pretty steep to me for a four cylinder car, turbocharged or not. :dunno:
