That is simply *infuriating*.

Without knowing whats "wrong" with my ad, I can't post it anywhere! Clearly, my HTML, combined with, fuck, I don't know, some history of making awesome ads in the past means that my CL account can never again post ads with alot of inline HTML.

Meanwhile, This motherfucker is allowed to post up his bullshit until the cows come home. Probably because every time he's banned, he just makes a new account. Me, I follow the rules, get my posts flagged because people are humorless bastards, and now I can't post.

I know, it blows. I only know this because the same thing happened to me when I posted a CL ad for my friend's Firechicken. I was doing the same thing you did (inline HTML images and used MS Word to pretty format the text.) However, it didn't shut down my account. The killer part is that it won't let you re-submit the ad right away (without all the fancy stuff) because "there is a duplicate ad on the site."

Yeah, I thought I would be sneaky, post a ad on the DC CL, and then edit it with the HTML later. No dice.

I actually suspect that it's due to the diverse sources of inline images. i.e, since I'm posting images hosted at more than one location, I must be a spammer.

- Keyword abuse, esp. in cars&trucks
- Special/Extra characters in title incl / & ( ) **** !!! etc.
- broken HTML or hidden codes
- No price where price field offered
- No location field entry
- Shipping, payment methods other than cash, auctions or bidding
- Chat/IM/etc. in personals
- Various problematic terms such as 'shippping' or for prohibited items
- Links or apparent website domain in the ad except where allowed
- 'clickable' pics
- huge embedded pic files (bandwidth hog)
- Some img hosting sites
- Extra email addy in body
- Excess punctuation, like, lists, like, this, or - or * on each line (like this list has!)
- Use of shorthand like @ in body or title

Conduct
- Have another ad up or tried recently in same category
- Had ad(s) flagged off recently
- Overposting or other abuse, as a recent pattern of behavior
- Broken CL account
- Posting too many too quickly
- Ad posted in the wrong site or subarea

Connection
- some email providers
- Shared or not-secure connection subject to abuse
- Some college campus or hotel connections
- ISP or email service also used by spammers etc.
- Apparently not local to site, esp. posting to USA from other country
- Use of proxy or anonymizer, or varying IP address

So, basically, keep your ads as fucking boring and uninformative as possible to avoid getting ghosted.
