Verona AutoX, whos leaving from the burg......

Sounds good, see you all then. I've been fiddling with my car after work this whole week getting ready, new power steering lines last night and fixed a coolant leak the day before. I cut my old steering lines off since they had stupid permanent fittings on each end, 300psi flame resistant hose went in it's place.
Oh, also is anyone going to bring a jack, or should I bring mine? I have a low profile aluminum craftsman one that works on most lowered cars. I'll bring a torque wrench, the click kind. Does anyone have an air tank or a electric compressor? What about tools? My friend is bringing his decent set of metric sockets and hand tools. I think every size from 7-19mm in hand and sockets, 3/8" drive. Perhaps we could divide some of this stuff up so we all don't have to bring it all. Maybe I'm over-preparing?

There is nothing such as overprepared but you are freaking out a little too much for an autox. I checked my lugs and a quick check under the hood and went to autox. Bring some spare coolant, a little bit of oil if your car leaks it, DEFINITELY an air gauge and compressor. I dont see why youll need a jack unless your changing wheels, and unless your car breaks a shit ton, I 99% of the time did not bring tools. Keep in mind, I did 20-30 autoxs and never ever had a problem except blowing up my rear end (which had been caused by never changing fluid, so thats a huge reminder, change fluids, and check ALL your fluids, including your diff and transmission before heading out). If I had checked that rear diff, it would have been a different story, wouldnt have had to wait for 4 weeks for custom bushings and the new diff, and the money spent on it. A mistake I will not repeat again.

Now with cold weather and street tires along with Verona, dont worry too much about tire temps and overheating, and to be honest, dont even care about times. Its harsh, but the verona autox is a joke, I was awd and I had the back end out the whole time, there is so much gravel out there, dont get frustrated just have fun.

Bring glasses, water, and a hat. Also bring sunscreen if you burn easily, and if you can, bring a portable chair and of course, dont show up in your sandels, bring real comfy shoes along with a sweater.

Do you have a helmet? Are you willing to borrow a helmet? How bout driving gloves?

Make sure your tire pressure are HIGH. somewhere in the 42 range satisfied me, although a lot of autoxers go higher. Warning: Do not run these type of pressures on the street, especially with a light rwd car.

i was about to say, go to the autocross with high pressures and drop them down as you need to instead of starting low and filling up repeatedly.....but Justin has a good point, it could be dangerous if you aren't prepared for the pressure difference while in transit to the autocross. i never had a problem but better safe than sorry.

definitely be there to have fun. you'll drive alot better with a relaxed care free attitude instead of white knuckle/red mist in the eyes 8)

ive gotta small compressor, dont worry botu the jack, if you need one ill have my OEM scissor jack, i doubt youll need anything more. I also just purchased a helmet if anyone may need one, as long as we arent running in the same group. See you guys 845 at rockingham.

I'll also have a little air compressor and pressure gauge available to anybody that needs to borrow any of them. I'll have a random assortment of tools and what not so we should be fine in case of an incident. Looking forward to this.

Is there a track map posted? Also, don't forget is daylight savings time. I have a feeling at least 1 person will probably be running an hour late tomorrow.

No map posted as of yet. I was also going to post about the daylight savings time considering its so early this year. I'll be there at the correct time missing my one hour of sleep. Sad

Great event. Perfect weather and the course was VERY fast. I definitely was not driving the car to its full potential but I had a blast trying to learn the characteristics of the new suspension bits. Pretty decent MM turnout but we did have one loss. Sad

Hope you can get the car running again.

yea i had a blast, again i suck at driving, but 5th out of 9 in SM, isnt to bad IMHO, congrats to shea for winning his class. Was a very fast fun course, big thanks to BRR SCCA for putting on a great event, look forward to the other 3 you guys will be having in Verona. ill post pics ASAP
