The stock SE-R seats hold you in decently for stock seats. Only picture I could find of them: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_im ... 115_71.jpg

A seat back brace will punch a hole in those seats given enough force, that is a bad idea. Either get hard shell seats or forget it all.

I would save your money until you can afford to get most of the stuff together. You won't be going that fast in group 1 anyways.

Not that I have some amazingly fast car, but it isnt a slug either. I'd be surprised if I put down anything less then 170 whp, probably closer to 180 and a good amount of torque too. My car weighs 2400 pounds. I'm not on R comps (and wont until I at least make group 2, maybe not even then), but handling isnt to bad either.

Chad, got any articles/research/documentation about seat braces puncturing seat backs?

It's not a critique of your car nor your skills. Instructors won't let you go that fast in group 1.

Y'all need to find better instructors Wink

The amount of traffic, limited passing zones, and general inexperience will keep your corner speeds in group 1 pretty slow. Most crashes happen in group 3/solo when you start going a lot faster but you dont have enough experience to bail you out when something goes wrong.
