looking forward to seeing how the buildup goes Chad. do you have any plans for a new paint scheme now that you are painting the whole car again anyway? i remember you had a few ideas a while back, it would be cool to see one come to life.

Paint is going to be last. I am going to paint the inside white, all white and the engine compartment. I've enjoyed being able to spot small leaks on the white very quick. As for the outside, I'm going to paint it myself, since I'll be painting the whole thing, I've not put a lot of thought into the scheme yet, but that's a ways off. We'll see how things go.

I think this is probably the best idea, considering that it is also very possible that your frame may have been tweaked from the impact (although I bet your cage reduced this to an absolute minimum). I'm really looking forward to a new thread so you can document the whole build and demonstrate the things you did differently and the reasons behind it so that we can learn from them.

Most of the stuff I plan to do different is chassis stiffening, weight reduction, fittment/attention to detail and keeping things as simple as possible. I was hesitant using the grinder and cutting tools on my white one, the green one is going to be fair game though, I'm looking for a sub 2700lb car, I'm tired of the fat jokes.

What's the minimum weight for you to stay in AI? 2700 lbs is rediculous, you'll be fast as hell, sounds like an awesome goal. I, personally, cannot wait to see how you go about doing this one.

Hell, if anyone wanted to race with NASA (or anybody), the first thing they should do is read MM's "How to prep X-Car for track" topics.

2800 WITH DRIVER. There are a few cars in the class that have to run ballast. I'm making about 295hp now so that puts me w/ a min weight of ~2800, I should come in around 2900 total.

This car is going to be way better than the last, I can already tell. I was looking through the January 05 Hot Rod magazing issue, and they have a little write up about an american iron car,i had remembered seeing it before, but didn't know it was an american iron car

One suggestion though on the new car: Anti-Factory Five force field.
