Ok guys, I'm finally ready to sell the red 240sx.
MM price: $1500
I'm going to tell you everything that I know is wrong with the car. Personally, I don't really want somebody I like to buy this car b/c I would feel bad if it breaks on them, even if it isn't my fault. I'm kinda just fielding it out here so you guys can tell me if I'm crazy or what.
The shocks and springs are all in good shape. Brakes all have lots of pad and rotor left on them, I just flushed the system with brand new fluid this past Friday. Changed oil last Friday Transmission shifts smoothly and clutch fluid was just flushed on Friday as well. It also has fresh fluid (Royal Purple) in it from when I did the engine rebuild and should not ned any service for at least 30,000 miles. It has a short shifter which dramatically shortened the length of the throws between shifts. One tire needs to be replaced, all others are in good shape. The paint is peeling and is far from showroom floor. The car was also in an accident before Rex owned it, and the DS front fender is wrinkled up. I have a spare fender sitting in the car that goes with the sale, but it needs to be painted and installed. The light still moves up and down freely and is properly aligned. The passenger seat has a large stain on it. The bolster on the driver seat is ripped and shows a lot of wear. The power steering pump is leaking fluid and should probably be replaced. The Heads Up Display (HUD) works perfectly, which is fairly rare for 240s this old. The guage cluster has been replaced, so the mileage is incorrect on the odometer. The chassis has ~150,000 on it, the engine has less than 1,000. I rebuilt the engine on this car last winter and it was installed this spring. The butterflies on the intake manifold have been removed, resulting in some loss of torque, but engine seems to be a small amount faster. The engine has 91 cams, which were the hottest available for the 240. When I installled the engine, it had an overheating problem. I was too busy at the time to work with it so it sat for several months. I have toyed with it some more and it does not overheat as badly. It will also remedy itself (return to normal) if you run the hot air in the cabin for a ~30 seconds. I am going to do a full coolant flush one more time to try to remedy this problem.
When the car is cleaned up it does look very nice. This would make an excellent chassis to do a swap on and it definitely has a lot of potential. The interior cleans up pretty well and the HUD is very cool. I'll post some pics up in a few.
What do you guys think?
