SOLD: 240 for sale, finally - Dave - 09-05-2005 Ok guys, I'm finally ready to sell the red 240sx. MM price: $1500 I'm going to tell you everything that I know is wrong with the car. Personally, I don't really want somebody I like to buy this car b/c I would feel bad if it breaks on them, even if it isn't my fault. I'm kinda just fielding it out here so you guys can tell me if I'm crazy or what. The shocks and springs are all in good shape. Brakes all have lots of pad and rotor left on them, I just flushed the system with brand new fluid this past Friday. Changed oil last Friday Transmission shifts smoothly and clutch fluid was just flushed on Friday as well. It also has fresh fluid (Royal Purple) in it from when I did the engine rebuild and should not ned any service for at least 30,000 miles. It has a short shifter which dramatically shortened the length of the throws between shifts. One tire needs to be replaced, all others are in good shape. The paint is peeling and is far from showroom floor. The car was also in an accident before Rex owned it, and the DS front fender is wrinkled up. I have a spare fender sitting in the car that goes with the sale, but it needs to be painted and installed. The light still moves up and down freely and is properly aligned. The passenger seat has a large stain on it. The bolster on the driver seat is ripped and shows a lot of wear. The power steering pump is leaking fluid and should probably be replaced. The Heads Up Display (HUD) works perfectly, which is fairly rare for 240s this old. The guage cluster has been replaced, so the mileage is incorrect on the odometer. The chassis has ~150,000 on it, the engine has less than 1,000. I rebuilt the engine on this car last winter and it was installed this spring. The butterflies on the intake manifold have been removed, resulting in some loss of torque, but engine seems to be a small amount faster. The engine has 91 cams, which were the hottest available for the 240. When I installled the engine, it had an overheating problem. I was too busy at the time to work with it so it sat for several months. I have toyed with it some more and it does not overheat as badly. It will also remedy itself (return to normal) if you run the hot air in the cabin for a ~30 seconds. I am going to do a full coolant flush one more time to try to remedy this problem. When the car is cleaned up it does look very nice. This would make an excellent chassis to do a swap on and it definitely has a lot of potential. The interior cleans up pretty well and the HUD is very cool. I'll post some pics up in a few. What do you guys think? - Dave - 09-05-2005 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the best picture of the engine build that I can find right now. I know I have some of the engine once it was complete done; I'll post these once I find them. It has all new gaskets, new rings, new timing chain and tensioners, 1991 cams (hottest of stock 240 cams), everything was cleaned, and the cylinders were honed before the engine was reassembled.
- CaptainHenreh - 09-06-2005 I didn't abuse it that badly, I swear. - Dave - 09-08-2005 seriously people, I posted on here to see what kind of questions I can expect from buyers. I don't really want to sell to anybody in the club, b/c then if/when it breaks, I would get blamed for something I couldn't control. Is this ad substantial enough in providing the proper information to any potential buyers? What else do I need to tell them? - .RJ - 09-08-2005 Put it on Drag Va, some ricer SR20 wantin' stunboi will pick it up. - lyltoy - 09-08-2005 I think thats pretty good, hell if it wasn't for your not wanting to sell it to someone in the club i'd prolly buy it from ya...one day i will find my 240, until then the search is on
- ScottyB - 09-08-2005 looks great Dave, you've included way more info than most people do for a really straight car. - Evan - 09-08-2005 yeah, spoilerless coupes are in demand, as the ones with spoilers tend to rust pretty bad. does it have a sunroof? its hard to tell - CaptainHenreh - 09-08-2005 Evan Wrote:yeah, spoilerless coupes are in demand, as the ones with spoilers tend to rust pretty bad. It has a sunroof, works great and doesn't leak. The spoilerless trunk was a royal bitch to find, but I put it on because i really liked the look of the car without it. But it originally came with a spoiler. Also, unless Dave stole them, it should come with an H4 conversion, with *glass* lenses, not that cheap plastic shit. - Dave - 09-08-2005 Dave didn't steal them cuz the fockers were rusted in place. I ended up buying my own set for the black 240. I think the ones on the red one are actually better, but primarily b/c I'm not convinced that the black ones are aligned properly. - Feersty - 09-09-2005 I wish I had some SR20 knowledge - Mike - 09-09-2005 Feersty Wrote:I wish I had some SR20 knowledge :?: - Sijray21 - 09-09-2005 i think that means he would buy it if he knew more about the car - mpg9999 - 09-09-2005 Feersty Wrote:I wish I had some SR20 knowledge Hi, my names Mike .
- mpg9999 - 09-09-2005 Want to sell it to me without the motor? - Dave - 09-09-2005 uh, sure. $1500, and the motor comes installed for free! Seriously these motors aren't worth shit, so the hassle of pulling the motor wouldn't quantify doing it to facilitate a sale. - Dave - 11-20-2005 SSSSOOOOLLLLLLDDD, bitchez! guy came and picked it up today. Got most of the dough, bunch of collateral and a pre-written check for the remaining balance due. The crazy part, the guy seemed really happy with the car!! I'm so happy this thing is gone from my possession. - BLAIR - 11-20-2005 Dave Wrote:SSSSOOOOLLLLLLDDD, bitchez! THANKS TO MEEEEE (no props dave.. damn you) - Nis01 - 11-20-2005 Grats Dave. DSM time? |
