My Supra is for sale!

I actually ended up putting the SC project on hold. The built 1JZ is going to be going into my Supra instead. Just curious, why did he cut and weld the TRD bar??? It's a very close fitment and doesn't require that drastic of a modification. Check mine out (dirty engine bay warning):

it is my understanding that he cut it because it wouldn't fit. It's for a Mk IV? As I know precisely dick about toyotas, I'll have to leave it to dave to answer for himself. I doubt anyone else here knows either.

try as I might, I just couldn't get the bar on it. Cut+weld and it fit beautifully. You're the first person to actually comment on it. I had it laying around and it's tot like I could use it on the mkIV at the moment anyways...

The fitment is only off by 1/4" at the most with the front crossmember jacked up. With a slight elongation of the holes, it can be installed. It's such a minor modification that you can't even tell on mine because the 14mm bolts cover it up.

This method also maintains the structural ridgidity of this awesome bar.

too late to be telling me this now Big Grin
The handling improvements from tower bars are so minimal that I truly doubt that cutting the bar and re-welding it really hurt it that much.

If you feel that the handling improvement is minimal, you should really try using a more premium bar. The Greddy I started with was the worst one, JIC being a big improvement, and Cusco an even bigger improvement. The TRD bar improvement is dramatic. It of course has to complement an equally performance-oriented shock/spring/coilover combination.

Anyone with a targa or convertible can attest to the dramatic difference that upper body bracing can make.
