My VW sent me a free Carfax in an effort to get me to upgrade. Infrequent oil changes are flagged. How are you handling service intervals? Time based?

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I thought I replied to this before; I'm not at the time interval maintenance point yet. I'm still doing the mileage-based oil maintenance every 5k (albeit every 8-10 months), but other things that aren't oil changes I'll just keep an eye on. The R is much like the GTI where the service intervals aren't bad.

My problem is mileage intervals are like two years apart. I've also taken it to VW when it's told me before only to have the dealer say the OBC was wrong and no service is necessary. I think maybe it just wasn't designed for my use case.

got bored, did a thing. I've been messing with the soundaktor settings and have never really liked how artificial it has sounded, especially in cold mornings when it sounds like a speaker with a torn cone (cold?). I installed the euro sport resonator delete pipe to add a little actual sound and coded down the soundaktor noise. cheap enough at about $100 and super easy to install.  i'm pleased with the results as it adds a subtle growl without adding as much noise. I coded the exhaust flaps to stay open all time as well; it should've sounded like this from the factory. i swear it opened up a little more mid-range tq, but i know that can't really be true.

I'm surprised you can hear anything over how loud you play your Taylor Swift.

First off i'm loving the resonator delete. the Soundaktor is terrible and sounds broken for cold starts in the winter. the resonator delete adds that slight rumble without sounding like or having the increased volume of an aftermarket exhaust.

the latest mod done today was one more thing for the oem+ or "how it should've came from the factory" mods: power folding side mirrors with reverse tilt control and puddle lamps

i do love me some small mods and I've been pushing the purchase of this for a while. With the 5 year old constantly running around the garage to get her stuff i finally justified the purchase. I followed the Humble Mechanic's youtube tutorial to install and code it. I have fears of breaking plastic tabs, but this was not too difficult. Lots of wiring harness connections to pull off if one isn't careful with the door card.
