Another idea presented to me by a friend... could I run two turbos in parallel? Like the stock Mitsu. first, then run another Mitsu. or a T3 off of its downpipe? Perhaps building my own tube header with a collector and two turbo flanges? Then "y" the outlets together and boost her up? This friend is not car literate, but he put forth the idea and I've never heard of a twin turbo 2.2...or any TT I-4 before. It sounds like it might not work, but I figured I would bounce it off you guys. I figure a problem with back pressure or something like that would arise.

The problem is two fold...displacement and fitment. You've never heard of a twin turbo I4 before...there is a reason. You've never heard of an engine 2.2 liters or smaller being twin turbo...there is a reason.
With that said, yes it can be done. But it won't make you any more power or increase spool time that much or be practical in any way.
It won't even be cool in my mind....

i wish i could find the link, but honestly i saw a picture of a TT'ed B18C a week ago. apparently the owner can custom fab his own stuff with a mig welder so he experimented with two turbos he had lying around. unless you can do the same on your own, a manifold would cost alot, especially since it would have to be some thick stuff to hold up the weight of two turbos. then factor in the ricockulous heat buildup, and the limited power/spool advantage if any...it wouldn't be practical at all.

I was just asking, I never thought about the weight. That would be an issue. But I guess a bigger turbo with higher boost would do better, because the spool time wouldn't be shortened by the TTs and for the problems it would cause a big turbo would provide a much better yield in boost and response then playing with a TT fab. I wouldn't do it now anyway, I have not the time or money, I just figured this was about my 2.2 so why not mention it.

word. my CAI is blue, because black cars with blue accents make me hot and bothered!
p.s., TurboOmni, i wasn't assuming you'd try to fab up a TT setup, just saying why i think it's a bad idea unless someone has a ton of time/money to blow
