2 Land Rover Discos for sale
#1
Selling both the Land Rovers! Feel free to share. White one - $3,250 obo and black one $5,000 obo. OR buy them both for $7,500.

1995 Land Rover Discovery (White Land Rover)- $3,250 obo
- Alpine White Exterior
- Tan Leather interior
- 3.9L V8
- 4WD with lockable diffs
- 135,000 miles
- Fully loaded
- Automatic Transmission
Features:
- Heated front seats
- 2 sunroofs
- Roof rack system with under storage
- Trailer hitch
- Power windows and heated mirrors
- A/C and heat (which work great!)
- Limited Slip Differential
- Upgraded speakers

Recent Maintenance:
- Brakes bled
- Tires rotated
- Oil changed

Needs/issues:
- Front windshield has a crack in it
- Sometimes it takes a few times to start (never had an issue)
- Tires in the near future
- Passenger fender could be replaced (I may do that if I can find one localish)... just some scuff marks and a CB antenna mount drilled through.
- Car sat over the summer, currently not starting due to a rodent chewing through the injector pigtails (this will be fixed before selling)

This is a great car. Gets ~15mpg. I bought it as a winter beater and ended up keeping it for a little longer because I was enjoying it so much. In the little time that I owned it I took it out on the beach in the OBX, all over the place in the snow and multiple other trips to WV, NC, DC and over VA.
Car is paid for clean title in hand.

Needs/issues:
- Front windows aren't rolling down
- Brake booster should be removed and have RTV applied. It has a slight vacuum leak there
- Radio needs to be hooked up
- Has a high idle issue, only when in park. Once it gets in drive or reverse there is no issue
- Brakes are currently locking up. Not sure what is going on with that but I'll have this (hopefully) sorted out before sale

This is a awesome vehicle. For those that know I picked it up from SC as a project car since it "only" needed a transmission. It has been an ongoing project and I don't have time to push forward with it anymore. I was originally going to remove the parts from the black LR to the white one but ran out of time this winter.

Any questions holler!

I agree with Polen, super cool cars. I enjoyed seeing them around campus. I'd love a disco to do some overlanding in.

Hahah it's so weird with these. I swear it's like LR made a good one, made a bad one, made a good one, made a bad one. The white one has been a tank. The black one has been an ongoing project that I can't keep funding anymore (due to time and space)... these things are crazy when they work correctly.

my cycling team had a pair of these as our fleet vehicles. at one point both decided to more or less fail everywhere. had to end up giving them away to the local LR shop. great cars on paper and in one's head, but i wouldn't ever get near one as an owner.

I've had someone find a FS thread of mine on here once. Now whether it was a spiteful alum trying to pull one over on me, or if someone actually did successfully reverse image search my ad to find the thread, I don't know.

Haha I don't mind if someone finds this thread. I'm trying to be as blunt as possible on these things. Land Rover's have a bad thing for electrical issues. Neither of these are showing signs of it which is great. Sagging headliner (both of mine have it removed) is another common issue. Rust is very common on the underside... neither of these have rust so I'm good there as well.

Beyond that the V8 is a terrible motor. It has like 170hp, runs premium and gets maybe 16-18mpg on a good day. The black one is probably more like 12. When these machines are in good running shape you could literally drive them through the depths of hell and back. I mean they are absolute tanks.

Just saying but it's really not, when you consider what it is. A 215CI all-aluminum v8 making 200hp and 16mpg in 1960? Technological marvel right there, and you have Buick to thank.

Problem was, the british have this thing where it's fine. IT'S FINE. What, no, don't change it, why would you change it are you mad? it's fine, it's bloody fine alright, let's go have tea.

And that's why there's no empire anymore.

everything electrical, interior falling apart, and one of ours had a significant suspension issue that was expensive enough to fix that it basically wrecked the vehicle.

no risk in sending a prospective buyer to this thread - anyone should and ALREADY SHOULD know what they're getting into when shopping these things.

no engine problems, but yeah, slow and inefficient. likely to go forever though?

Senor_Taylor Wrote:... but my calendar says it's 2016, so it IS terrible.

Comparing any engine made in 2016 to anything made more than 10 years ago is going to have the older one be terrible. We've made huge and outrageous technological advancements in engine tech in 10 years.

My point was that for an engine designed in the 60's, going basically unchanged for 40 years, and still being probably the lightest mass-produced V8 in history...there are so many Actually Bad Engines out there that this shouldn't even qualify. 200hp, 18mpg, and weighting in at 350 pounds makes it a better engine than LOTS of cars had in 1995.

I guess if you ignore the Honda B-Series because FFFFFFUUUUUU why did they stop making that?
