Chris Ryder - Secretary
#1
Hello all.

First off let me say that I am a junior here at JMU. I drive the 1999 red Mustang GT. This is my second year in Madison Motorsports along with my second year at JMU. I will be at JMU two more years once this semester is over. With that being said, I do have experience being in MM and the curiosity and desire to learn more about it.

I'm running for secretary because Madison Motorsports is the only club I have been apart of while I've been at JMU and it's the best one on campus, right? I've learned so much along with experiencing so many great things while in Motorsports and I think I can add value to the club by taking office. I don't know all of the details behind the car show and the autocrosses, but what better way to learn and find out than to take office? I plan on working with the other officers in the club to make next year the best one yet!

Being in the club for two years I have learned some of the ropes of being in MM. I would like to take it a step further and become an officer in MM. To make a long story short, I fell in love with MM at student organization night my first semester here over a year ago. I want to expand the club so that we can have more awesome members to indulge in some mind-blowing activities. I'm excited for many more fond memories with the awesome members with their awesome cars.

I'd like to thank all of the current officers for all they've done in MM to help make it as enjoyable as possible for all of the members and alumni.

If elected, I would do my absolute best to give 100% effort to do my duties as secretary.

Thanks for reading.

As of right now, my ideas for the upcoming year are limited. My first idea is that when the car show comes around next year, we decide positions and shifts for everyone helping. That way someone isn't sitting around the whole time while others walk around. Another idea that I may have is that there is an event called "Virginia 1/2 Mile Shootout." It is about fifteen minutes away from my house. They run the 1/2 mile at a very small airport on top of a mountain with a spectacular view. There is a nice resort not even half an hour away from the airport that I work at and will be doing an internship at next summer. "The Omni Homestead" is the name of the resort if you've ever heard of Omni Hotels. I will do my very best to try and get some members and alumni rooms at a discount. I make no promises on that as my boss has the final say in that. Those are the only ideas I have currently since I only know a minimal amount of what goes on behind the scenes in MM. Once I see how things operate a little more, I can come up with some ideas and improvements to help make our club more efficient and better known. I am very willing to learn and achieve whatever goals necessary the club needs to accomplish.

After registering for classes next semester, I have decided that during the week my schedule may get to hectic. Not so much with the difficulty of the classes, but with the times that my classes are scheduled. It would not be fair to MM if I was elected and not able to fully occupy the position. I wish the best of luck to everyone who is running for office!
