French cars = suck - JackoliciousLegs - 01-31-2009 I'm in Israel... which is why I'm not really posting at all anymore... but anyways, my cousin has a Peugot 106. The idle is irregular. You start it warmish and it settles at around 1k. As it warms up, the idle climbs, and in traffic, the idle will sit close to 2k. What should I look at first? - .RJ - 01-31-2009 Is it trying to surrender? - HAULN-SS - 01-31-2009 Maybe the choke is working backwards? - .RJ - 01-31-2009 Cars dont have chokes anymore deersty  - HAULN-SS - 01-31-2009 Fuck these new fangled pieces of shit! Maybe it's a hanging EGR valve? Cars still got those? - PDenbigh - 01-31-2009 Vacuum Leak Perhaps? Also the idle control valve, it it has one, might be broken (or working backwards. You are in Israel after all.) ;-). - JackoliciousLegs - 02-01-2009 Best part is.. when I'm on the highway, the temperature gauge is buried at the cold end. In traffic, it sits near the middle/top of the gauge. WTF?! Could it be connected to the idle issue? - PDenbigh - 02-01-2009 That sounds like a bad thermostat. Unlikely that it's connected to the idle, sorry. - CaptainHenreh - 02-01-2009 PDenbigh Wrote:That sounds like a bad thermostat. Unlikely that it's connected to the idle, sorry. Could also be a bad temp sensor, which *could* be connected to the idle. But...eh, I dunno. - Mike - 02-01-2009 PDenbigh Wrote:That sounds like a bad thermostat. That's my guess as well. - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-02-2009 CaptainHenreh Wrote:PDenbigh Wrote:That sounds like a bad thermostat. Unlikely that it's connected to the idle, sorry. Bad temp sensor can put the car into open loop mode and depending on the ecu's programming could cause the high idle. But...its more than likely bad IAC and thermostat like everyone else says. - Goodspeed - 02-02-2009 Pop the hood and listen closely as it idles....does it sound like its saying
