I'm in Israel... which is why I'm not really posting at all anymore... but anyways, my cousin has a Peugot 106. The idle is irregular. You start it warmish and it settles at around 1k. As it warms up, the idle climbs, and in traffic, the idle will sit close to 2k. What should I look at first?

Also the idle control valve, it it has one, might be broken (or working backwards. You are in Israel after all.) ;-).

Best part is.. when I'm on the highway, the temperature gauge is buried at the cold end. In traffic, it sits near the middle/top of the gauge. WTF?! Could it be connected to the idle issue?

That sounds like a bad thermostat. Unlikely that it's connected to the idle, sorry.

Could also be a bad temp sensor, which *could* be connected to the idle.

Bad temp sensor can put the car into open loop mode and depending on the ecu's programming could cause the high idle. But...its more than likely bad IAC and thermostat like everyone else says.
