The RJ bought a new camera thread - Printable Version +- Madison Motorsports (https://forum.mmsports.org) +-- Forum: Technical (https://forum.mmsports.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=4) +--- Forum: Appearance/Cosmetic (https://forum.mmsports.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=14) +--- Thread: The RJ bought a new camera thread (/showthread.php?tid=6261) |
The RJ bought a new camera thread - .RJ - 08-04-2007 Canon Rebel XT. Pics below taken with the kit lens, but I've already bought a Sigma 70-300mm lens, and probably pick up a Sigma 17-70mm lens later this month. (I dont intend for this to be a debate for canon vs. not-canon glass, so dont start one in this thread). Critique, prawpz, etc.... plenty more to follow over the next few months. - Evan - 08-04-2007 the 'RJ must start a thread on every purchase he ever makes' thread? - .RJ - 08-04-2007 Shiny new thing! I really just want critique on the pictures  - Apoc - 08-04-2007 First, resize your fucking pictures! 3 & 7 seem out of focus. I'm guessing the camera focused on something other than the bike. Did you auto-level these? Looks like you did, probably something you wouldn't have to do if you had a UV filter. It made the details darker than they should be. (i.e. engine) A fill flash could fix that but you'd probably get a reflection off the tank or something. - .RJ - 08-04-2007 I'll resize your fucking head! I tried to auto-level, but it made the picture look really washed out - just auto-contrast in photoshop. - Apoc - 08-04-2007 You probably shot in some of the worst light possible... hot and somewhat humid. UV filter sucka! - .RJ - 08-04-2007 Shot at ~9am - it wasnt too bad yet. - Apoc - 08-04-2007 I guess... maybe it's the contrast that's makes it seem that way. - Evan - 08-04-2007 yar the 2nd bike pic is fuzzy. go for simpler, less busy backgrounds. and/or open up the aperture to blur the background and make your subject pop out - Apoc - 08-04-2007 Also... try to include russian h00wars. - Nis01 - 08-04-2007 Nice buy RJ. Nothing wrong with Sigma glass... I have definitely enjoyed mine. Not necessarily as sharp as some of the "L" Canon glass but for the price they are great. Will enjoy watching the progress. This reminds me I need to start shooting again... its been a while.
- BLINGMW - 08-04-2007 I don't know a damn thing, but color looks oversaturated to me. :dunno: - .RJ - 08-05-2007 - JackoliciousLegs - 08-05-2007 Good purchase. I guess a tripod might be up next? - .RJ - 08-05-2007 Maybe - I have a mini-tripod but thats not going to cut it. Chris is trying to talk me into a UV lens filter too. - ScottyB - 08-05-2007 requesting pictures of your cool dog - .RJ - 08-05-2007 On the way.... going to go freeload some dinner from my parents soon. - Apoc - 08-05-2007 .RJ Wrote:Maybe - I have a mini-tripod but thats not going to cut it. Chris is trying to talk me into a UV lens filter too. They're really an absolute must, if for nothing else than protecting the glass on your lens. It's a lot easier to replace a $20 filter than a $300 lens. FWIW, I travel with a minitripod and use it a lot. - Apoc - 08-05-2007 Slighty OT: Anyone interested in buying my Lowepro Micro Trekker 100? I picked up something different and probably don't need this one. It's pretty much like new and will sell for $30. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Backpacks/classic/Micro_Trekker_100.aspx">http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Backpac ... r_100.aspx</a><!-- m --> <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Micro-Trekker-100-Camera/dp/B00004TX7A">http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Micro-Tre ... - Mike - 08-05-2007 when making reflection shots, make sure you're not in the reflection... otherwise, good buy and nothing wrong with sigma lenses. |
