12 hrs at the point - .RJ - 06-04-2004 Just some pics from this evening..... race starts tomorrow at noon. Casualty #1 ![]() ![]() ![]() And I was out yesterday with the team as well - I got to ride in this (150+ down the front straight while short-shifting). ![]() ![]() ![]() And this beauty.... absolutely fucking amazing car. 1954 550 Spyder...
- .RJ - 06-05-2004 We qualified 7th overall on grid
- Mike - 06-05-2004 Sweet, that is the guy that told Dave "Yes, actually I do mind" when he asked for a ride. - .RJ - 06-05-2004 He just bought the car, very nice guy to hang out with. - .RJ - 06-05-2004 Besides, if someone just doesnt want a passenger in the car there's nothing wrong with that. They paid for the track time, they can use it however they want. There are times where I turn away passengers because I want time to myself to work on things. - Mike - 06-05-2004 You can put it more nicely... - Evan - 06-05-2004 Ive had to turn away people who have asked for rides (not sure why they want a ride in a miata anyway) and almost every person gets pissy. Quite frankly I resent people who expect to get rides. Most of the time I love giving rides, but sometimes I may want to work on getting a clean fast lap, or work on heavy trailbraking (see: off twice at the same corner in the same session) and really cant take a passenger. (also the brakes hate an extra 200lb in the car too and it handles like ass) Its not like the guy said "piss off" to him. - Dave - 06-05-2004 understandably, you have your reasons for not wanting passengers. I didn't get pissy or cop an attitude with the guy either. I understand the various reasons for not wanting a passenger in the car. However, the tone of voice and wording used was unnecessary ("piss off" was essentially what he said) and he was a cock in general (speeding through the paddock, on a seperate instance told another worker to get the fuck away from his car). I have been turned away from rides on numerous occaisions and never thought twice about the guy being a dick UNTIL that particular porsche driver. I don't expect anybody to give me a ride on track for my own enjoyment, althought I will admit that a couple rides on track can make working at a corner all day almost worth it. I will also say that getting a ride from an instructor and actually watching them helped out a ton in getting my own techniques correct at VIR (thanks RJ). I'm sure that you guys understand this. I also think it was a different GT3 Cup car, although I cannot confirm or deny this. - .RJ - 06-05-2004 Dave Wrote:and he was a cock in general Definately not the same guy. - Mike - 06-05-2004 He does drive a p-car
- .RJ - 06-06-2004 Neither of our cars finished ![]() But I had a great time. You guys really ought to come out next year, its a blast and a great learning experience. - .RJ - 06-06-2004 Roll-a-Porshe! w00t w00t!
- .RJ - 06-06-2004 And one of the 911 on the team
- .RJ - 06-06-2004 And why the Integra did not finish
- Dave - 06-06-2004 owned, with only 15 minutes to go - ScottyB - 06-06-2004 whoa, what happened to the teg? did he get hit, or slide into something? - .RJ - 06-06-2004 ![]()
- Maengelito - 06-06-2004 .RJ Wrote:And why the Integra did not finish slide and/or die - Feersty - 06-06-2004 It says "Rice" on the rear right quarter panel. - .RJ - 06-06-2004 http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictu ... 83&start=1 - all pics up here |
