Tell me why I don't want an MG Midget - Apoc - 11-02-2006 Free time at work means I look for ways to blow cash unnecessarily. When I do this I come up with half-brained ideas. Besides, for this amount of money... what could go wrong? 1977 mg midget convertable - $2500 http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ ... 84216.html Image not of actual car...
- WRXtranceformed - 11-02-2006 That's tight! Are those reliable, or do they take a lot of maintenance to keep running? No point in throwing away money on something that you're constantly fixing. Go for it! - .RJ - 11-02-2006 What could go wrong... its british, the list is endless. - Andy - 11-02-2006 My father in law had a Austin Healey and a V8 swapped MGB back in his day. He has a Miata now and says it all the fun of those cars except he's not under it every weekend. His Healey also caught on fire 2 times with him in it. But I want one. Actually, I want a Triumph TR6. - CaptainHenreh - 11-02-2006 Hooray for Britain! Hooray for exploding headlights and massive, untraceable oil leaks. w00t! - Maengelito - 11-02-2006 i wanted one too, but british sports cars never run properly. they are known to be very unreliable despite how nice they are. all of this reminds me of that thread about eric not too long ago and how he had his fiat's transmission in his dorm room at rockingham - BLINGMW - 11-02-2006 Andy Wrote:His Healey also caught on fire 2 times with him in it. Personality! - WRXtranceformed - 11-02-2006 Andy Wrote:His Healey also caught on fire 2 times with him in it.LOL  - Apoc - 11-02-2006 What I'd really love is a Super 7.
- REED - 11-02-2006 Andy Wrote:I want a Triumph TR6. I love those cars - such classic british lines - CaptainHenreh - 11-02-2006 Apoc Wrote:What I'd really love is a Super 7. Why not build a Locost? It'd easily run you under 10 grand, and there's a bunch of plans for a 944 driveline to be utilized. (If that's something you'd be interested in, and I'm not saying it is.) - Apoc - 11-02-2006 What is this "build" you speak of? Even were I not lazy I know enough that I'll likely never build a car when I can buy it for so much cheaper and less hassle. - .RJ - 11-02-2006 I've never seen chris turn a wrench on any vehicle.... building a whole car is out of the question
- Apoc - 11-02-2006 .RJ Wrote:I've never seen chris turn a wrench on any vehicle.... Remember when I replaced the alternator in 100┬░ weather at VIR instead of eating lunch? That's some sort of miracle. - Evan - 11-02-2006 let me get this straight, you dont "get" why a miata is a good car, yet you want an old, busted, tiny british sports car older than you are? - Apoc - 11-02-2006 Yeah that pretty much sums it up... although there's a distinct difference between a DD and recreational use. On the bell curve that is car's age, anything +/- 2 sigma is where it's at. Ryan always buys busted chit right at the peak of old/busted. There's something to be said for cars old than I am.
- Evan - 11-02-2006 hell, give it a shot then. although Im willing to bet you will take it for a test drive and drive it about 100 yards before you ask yourself wtf you were thinking. - Apoc - 11-02-2006 Well considering this one is so cheap it's probably in really bad condition. I think I'd rather have an MGB like this -->http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1 - WRXtranceformed - 11-02-2006 The interior of that is pretty sweet. And even if the engine sucked, there looks like a decent amount of space in there for a swap. That would make a cool little hotrod! Looks pretty slow in stock form though... probably would be more of a cruiser. - Andy - 11-02-2006 WRXtranceformed Wrote:The interior of that is pretty sweet. For something so low on power and tiny, it's understandable that folks our age would assume it was a god of turns. |
