any bimmer guys have an extra MAF laying around? - EuphoriousCntrl - 10-27-2006 like it says. short and simple. - ViPER1313 - 10-27-2006 I have an SHO MAF laying around 8) - xvxax - 10-27-2006 Yep. I do. I'm going home this weekend actually. I think I have 2 spares around. Do you need one forever, or just to work out a problem? edit: e-mail me because I probably wont check here. double edit: obd1 right? triple edit: you have a 318? I'm not sure if our mafs are the same. If I remember right you have an old school bosch flap metering style maf while m50/s50 had the electronic metering maf. Is that right? The S50/m50 maf is part number 13621747155. Look on your maf, the part number should be really obvious. Hope this helps. I think you may share the same maf with e30 m20 motors though. Peter - ViPER1313 - 10-27-2006 If the MAF is causing problems unplugging it should fix the symptoms - the computer will compensate for it. The CEL will remain but the car should run correctly. - CaptainHenreh - 10-27-2006 If you need to borrow an M50 MAFS, I might be able to help. If you need to purchase one, I suggest eBay. I got mine for 50 bucks shipped. - xvxax - 10-27-2006 if you need a m50 maf, ill give you one. I have like 2 or 3 around. I'm pretty sure his car is a 97 318 though. I don't think I have a obd2 maf around but my friend might. lemme know. Peter - EuphoriousCntrl - 10-28-2006 Yea, i probably should have specified. obd 2 maf; and it is a 1997 318i. i havent looked yet (dunno why) but i'm pretty sure it's not the flap style. i unplugged it and it is definatly fried. check engine light is running and i definately know. it's also making my car stutter too so i definatly need to replace it. really weird how its fried at 84k miles though. i've seen 250k bimmers with original units. - ViPER1313 - 10-29-2006 MAFs are a random failure type of thing - they might last 300k miles or they might screw up at 70k. If the car runs fine when it is unplugged replace it - problem solved. - xvxax - 10-30-2006 I'm pretty sure you have the same one as the s50/m50 although the part numbers arent matching up on this ETK i have. I'll bring it back with me when I go home (again) this weekend for some work. if it doesn't work so be it. Buy me like a 12 pack or something and its yours. Peter - EuphoriousCntrl - 11-01-2006 haha, if i still needed one i would. i just picked one up off a connection they have in ohio. used off a 30k car but still $200 cheaper than if i bought it new. - DRYFT - 11-03-2006 Hey man, your maf just came in. Come by anytime, thanks. - EuphoriousCntrl - 11-06-2006 ^ from these guys. - xvxax - 11-06-2006 Pretty sure the cost of a 12 pack would have been cheaper, but to each his own. -Peter - CaptainHenreh - 11-06-2006 xvxax Wrote:Pretty sure the cost of a 12 pack would have been cheaper, but to each his own. If you've just got them lying around, Rex could always use a spare. Need a starter too.
