02 sensor replacement.... ^w-t-f mate? - .RJ - 12-15-2005
So the miata had been a bit down on fuel mileage, with a CEL for a little while, with a bad o2 sensor listed as one of the triggers for the light. I figured, its got to be the o2 sensor, after I fixed an exhaust leak after the pre-cat (new gasket).
I get a new OEM sensor from Felton today, so I pull the old one off.... sho' nuff its a 'universal' type that you wire into the factory harness. Those things never work worth a shit.... but I was curious how this guy "wired" it in.....

....Always a bit frustrating to pay extra for the factory replacement only to find that a PO has destroyed whatever connector was supposed to hook up to what you just bought. :x

I dont think so - not having a solid, soldered/heat wrapped connection could introduce a lot of noise into the signal, and with something like the picky obd2 computer it would be enough to drop gas mileage and trigger the CEL.
