I dunno, kinda wanna get a set made in '11 or '12. I've only been actively searching for a few weeks so I think I'm going to hold out for a little while to see what's out there.

So.... looking for tires for my Exige.
I have bone-jarring stiff sidewall track tires on my stock wheels, so Im looking for some softer street tires for my new wheels.
Requirements are a performance/summer tire for street use. Sidewalls should be medium to soft (for a performance tire) to take out some of the harshness of the bilstien track suspension, but not so soft that they fold all over themselves in spirited driving.
Ultimate grip is not a huge concern. Composed and responsive performance are of course very important, but they dont need to win any ST autoxes.
cheap is important (I love me some cheap korean tires) and the tread pattern should not look out of place on a sports car.
sizes are slightly flexible, 205/45/16 and 245/40-17 or 205/50/16 and 235/45/17 are the best sizes.

I just picked up a set of Continental DWs (Note, not the DWSs, which are all seasons) and I really like them. They were under $700 for a set of 245/35/18s, ride really well, and seem to stick very well for their ~340TW rating. I've only got ~500 miles on them but I'd defintely recommend them for a cheap street tire.

picked up 4 yoko s-drive for under $100 per after the coupon. could have gotten some others for less but they get great reviews and sound like the exact tire im looking for.
got some extra meat to match the wider rims too

Anyone hear anything about the Dunlop DZ102's? Just came out within the last couple months. It looks like that is the replacement for the star specs, except that it has a way better tread wear rating.

Nope,
The DZ102 is the replacement for the DZ101, the Star Spec Replacement was the Star Spec Z2.
DZ101s were "meh", but last a lot longer than the top tier "street" tires.

The DZ102 is the replacement for the DZ101, the Star Spec Replacement was the Star Spec Z2.

Ah, got it. They just aren't calling it the star spec on Tirerack. It's just listed as Direzza ZII

The ZII's are pretty good, I had them on the Miata and liked 'em for the 500 miles I put on them before selling the car.
Had the DZ101's prior to that, they were great for the street (higher TW, longer life than Star Spec/ZII) but less grippy around VIR/Summit.

Anyone have any experience with some Pilot Super Sport summers? Ditching the idea of finding OE Goodyears and am now leaning toward these.

hot pressures - 42F, 37R with -1.5 camber at both ends

honestly they've still been pretty good as a grippy all season street tire. they took a track weekend and didn't chunk. still not impressed with hydroplaning resistance.

Ok, I need new tires for the minivan-camino. Looks like there are some reasonable options at Costo, is that the way to go?
I found a bunch of summer "buy 3 get 1 free" coupons, but all they do is inflate the normal price of the tires so really its no cheaper than if I bought from tirerack and paid extra for shipping and had them installed.... and usually the selection sucks.
I really like the OE tires (Michelin LTX) but at $900 installed I dont think that's going to happen.

yeah, costco is the easy button. did that for the odyssey, Michelin - Defender XT had good reviews from the minivan forums. (quit laughing kids, yes, they do exist)
they run a coupon for like $70 off a set of 4 michelin's every other month or so, think we were ~575-600 out the door.
do like their warranty and lifetime balance/rotations for free.
the place here will swap out my snows under the free rotation.

We have the General Grabber HTS on the SAAB, no complaints, been a great tire thus far. Not much noise and good wear.
Drop ship to your closest Merchant's, and have them install at a discounted Tire Rack rate.
