- Dave - 08-11-2006 that's awesome that they covered it under warranty and your car is all better. I know you're happy to have her back :-). - Feersty - 08-11-2006 Nice Scotty. I have slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads I need to put on all around as well. - ScottyB - 08-11-2006 Rob, definitely try to put those on yourself...it's a rip to get those installed by someone else. any reason why you chose slotted? - Nis01 - 08-12-2006 ^^ bling factor?? 8) Love the car Scotty, I'm sure those brakes are going to be day and night difference. - ScottyB - 08-12-2006 Nis01 Wrote:^^ bling factor?? 8) thanks Shea. it will be a difference for sure...nothing crazy but at least it's better secretly i want my car to be like a german STi 8) - Feersty - 08-12-2006 ScottyB Wrote:Rob, definitely try to put those on yourself...it's a rip to get those installed by someone else. any reason why you chose slotted? Got a great deal through Massive Speed Systems, 409$ for rotors and pads and they happen to be slotted. My friend has the same set up on his 5 door. He is going to help me with that and I definitely look forward to it. Rear SVT brakes are a PITA though. - Maengelito - 08-12-2006 what kind of pads did you get? just for street use i assume feersty? - ScottyB - 08-12-2006 i think he said hawk HPS's from his other thread. - Feersty - 08-12-2006 ScottyB Wrote:i think he said hawk HPS's from his other thread. yea. Track duty is a long way off for me. The stock SVT pads are good as it is. - ScottyB - 08-19-2006 whats more fun that digging into car parts covered in years of accumulated brake dust and crap? how about digging into car parts covered in the result of an axle boot that went kablooey? cleaning up from that was fun (that stuff gets everywhere). ugh...yet another part i need to look into fixing. new hotness vs. old and busted ![]() how deep the old rotors had been worn in ![]() TT caliper carriers / A8 rotors / ferodo pads bottoned down ![]() and the before / after comparison: ![]() [/img]oh yeah.....so far they feel real good. the pads are still bedding in so it's nothing i can really say 100%....but for just a front brake upgrade i'm happy. that's it for the brakes. i will probably go with more aggressive rear pads someday to balance it out but this is all i need for the type of driving and motorsports that i do. next up: fuel filter replacement and new plugs. that part won't be quite as cool
- PDenbigh - 08-19-2006 Sweet! Stopping is always a +, looking good while doing it is a ++! - ScottyB - 08-19-2006 PDenbigh Wrote:Sweet! Stopping is always a +, looking good while doing it is a ++! heh, i can't deny i like seeing those wheels filled up with brakes 8) - Feersty - 08-20-2006 Looks Good Scotty. - Dave - 08-20-2006 dayum, those rotors filled up the gap a lot! - WRXtranceformed - 08-20-2006 Looks good man!! Can't wait to hear your reviews once they get broken in ^_^ - ScottyB - 08-23-2006 short term review: best modification i've made to the car yet. better modulation, better stopping power, less fade. everything i expected, especially at high cruise (80 or so) speeds, when i need to drop from that to 15 or 20 in a short distance for random herds of traffic. booyah. - Nis01 - 08-24-2006 ^^ Awesome Scotty. Glad to see they made such a large difference. - WRXtranceformed - 08-24-2006 Hell yeah dude =D Glad to hear it was money well spent ^_^ - Sijray21 - 08-24-2006 ScottyB Wrote:better modulation, better stopping power, less fade. everything i expected, especially at high cruise (80 or so) speeds, when i need to drop from that to 15 or 20 in a short distance for random herds of traffic. booyah. haha, best performance usage for the street. Nice 'little' upgrade Dizzler! Those things are HUGE! - ScottyB - 08-24-2006 heh, thanks guys. who would have thought slowing down could be so much fun? |
