Finally got a check engine light out of this thing for the running rough while cold issue. 29E0 - Fuel Mixture Control is the code I got. Some quick googling seems to point to this code coming up when you run E85 (I don't) or a bad o2 sensor. I'm doing some more research on it, but a bad o2 sensor isn't too big of a deal as long as I can get it out from the top of the motor. If I have to pull the downpipes to replace it, that's going to be a lot more of a pain.

Hows this been treating you? Any issues? I was reading about turbo'd 2005+ BMW's this weekend and it seems they're actually holding up relatively well and proving reliable. What say you, Stephen?

It's still got a bit of a misfire at idle when its cold and my comfort access door handle is spotty at best. Otherwise no problems.

The big issue with the n54's (HPFP's) was solved a while back so they are fairly reliable now.

It's been a while since my last update. I haven't done much to it over the winter. Had to get a new battery because mine was starting to throw warning lights during the really cold streak we had.

Also, I got tired of waiting on a consistent misfire light so I went ahead and did a set of coils. This seems to have cleared up 95% of my rough idle. What's left is probably just the intake valve gunk that should be cleaned up at some point. Of all the time I've owned it, it only threw one misfire code even though it misfired pretty bad when it was really cold. Not sure why it's so insensitive to misfires compared to my past cars.

Have you tried seafoaming the manifold?

No, but they say it doesn't help much. Physically chipping the gunk off or walnut blasting it is really the only way to get it out.

Also, I just found out that I have the updated injectors in my car which means I probably won't have problems with them. I guess the previous owner had them replaced under warranty at some point. WOO :thumbup:

Only things I need to worry about now are the water pump and turbos (which are covered until 72k).

Wellll in my traditional fashion of not keeping a car much longer than a year, I think it's about time this thing finds a new owner. I'm planning on moving to Richmond in a couple of months and don't really see the point of having a nice car that will be street parked.

I think the plan for now is to get some sort of beater (maybe an xterra) until I have a chance to settle in once I move. After that I'm sure I'll get something interesting again.

Probably going to be parting out the mods if you all know of anyone interested in 135i parts, or the car itself. Only issue at this point is comfort access working somewhat inconsistently. That seems to be pretty on-par for the 1 series though.

Without doing much research, is there a way to fix the comfort access stuff?

From what I've seen most places in Richmond are street parking if you're actually in the city. Some of them have shady back alley parking but that's about it.

I'd prefer to be in the Fan since it's walking distance to tons of stuff, but I might not. I've also got some friends that live in Church Hill so that may be an option as well. The thing is, living by yourself is kind of expensive either place and any potential roommates I have won't have near as much of a budget as me, so I'm probably not going to be living somewhere really nice at least at first.

It probably just needs a new door handle. I don't know if it's even worth it though because the new one might not work any better. Just seems like comfort access doesn't work particularly well on the 1-series. The keyless start works fine, you just have to press the unlock button on the fob to get in the car.

When you say as it sets, do you mean mods included? Stock KBB is 22,300 so I'll be asking somewhere close to that once I take the mods off.

My ComfortAccess was always fine on my 2009. I just learned to not wash the car with the keys in my pocket - it'd get stuck on a loop of lock/unlock as the water hit the door handle.

Not a BMW exclusive thing. Plenty of cars have this going back a few years. Not sure how it works exactly, but I assume the car senses the key is near via bluetooth. Emily's mom's Infiniti M45 does this - walk up to car and touch the button on the door handle and voila, you're opening the door.

That's pretty common on newer luxury cars. In my car, the doors will unlock and the seats, side mirrors and steering wheel will readjust to the memory settings for that driver.

The dang CX-5 that my wife fell in love with doesn't have it Sad I was hoping to sell her on the MDX or RDX after she drove them both due to the simple fact I'm almost 6' and she's barely 5'...when we switch driving the Elantra it takes a bit to get the seat mirrors etc where they need to be. She likes the RDX more than the MDX but I'm kind of wishing I hadn't swung by the Mazda dealership because she likes the CX5 the best. I get cost savings but why not leave out the power liftgate and add in memory seats instead :?

No power lift gate on any cx5 and you just hit the button on the handle to open the door. No keys involved.
