Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - fiveoh2go - 02-03-2011 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:I dont get the point of the R, its not hard enough for a real track car, and a Terminator Cobra is way faster. Stock for stock (no mods) the R is the superior car (not by much but it is). The info below is taken from a Motor Trend article back in '03 in which both cars were tested on the same day at the same location. The Terminators only become way faster once you do some induction and exhaust mods to them. 0-60 - R did it in 4.7, the Terminator 4.9 1/4 Mile - R did it in 12.9, the Terminator 13.1 Braking from 100 - R needed 328 ft, the Terminator needed 341 Skid pad - R: .94g, the Terminator .82g Slalom - R: 69mph, the Terminator: 64 mph D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:Even magazines reported on how pissed off Mustang Cobra R owners were when one year later Ford came out with a way faster Cobra for $20K less. True, but if you don't improve upon your product you'll be out of business. And it was actually two years later (Terminators first hit the streets in the summer of '02 as '03 MY cars). D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:When terminator cobras are in the 10-20k region now, why the fuck would you give a shit about an R? Hell at this point the '11 mustang is 3 times cheaper than it, is WAYYYY better on track, and sounds glorious as well.Show me a non salvage title Terminator for 10K and I'll buy it! These cars aren't that cheap yet! Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - JustinG - 02-03-2011 stock for stock I'm sure the R is faster than the terminator, but.... Same tires, brakes on both cars, don't see how the R is worth it or faster. IMO, a car with a plaque saying xxx of 300, ain't a track car. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-03-2011 PS, Chad swapped the motor in, it wasnt a V6 . And also, all of those are close enough that im sure the stock tires between a Terminator cobra and Cobra R make up most the difference. On a side-note skidpad numbers are really easy to fool. Car and Driver (or road and track) did an article in 2001 I think comparing a corvette, gsx, and a ?civic?. The stock eclipse on stock pressures on 215 stock goodyear RS all seasons did .85G, they simple messed with tire pressure and the GSX pulled a .92G. Sorry I dont remember the corvette and civics numbers, only really focused on the GSX lol. IMO, a car with a plaque saying xxx of 300, ain't a track car. There are far more things that differentiate the '00 R from a Terminator besides a build number plaque (which neither car have). If you're truly interested to find out, do some research on both. SVTP as well as Modular Fords are both good resources. The '00 R wasn't built for a specific NASA or SCCA class, it was merely Ford's way of throwing a bone to the die-hard Ford enthusiasts who like to live their lives by more than just a quarter mile at a time  . I feel like you either get that or you don't. :dunno: D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:PS, Chad swapped the motor in, it wasnt a V6I know, I've seen the thread. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - JustinG - 02-04-2011 I know why they built it, my point is there are better ways, IMO to spend $70k, like for instance, buy 2-3 terminators

I was there looking at one of their 05's for work and this car was in the same garage. Also, just noticed the Auto Krafters rear plate lol. Pretty good looking car and the guys that work there are really nice. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Goodspeed - 03-11-2011 Damn. Someone seriously needs to guard that with a shotgun to make sure a broski doesn't show up, sidewayz hat and all, to buy it and promptly put it into a lightpole trying to be alpha as fuck. |
