No, don't remember his name but he drove a blue hatch Re: Surprise!: 'nother MMMiata - Senor_Taylor - 03-28-2017 Gordonovski Wrote:Senor_Taylor Wrote:Gordonovski Wrote:I Stopped at the Sheetz just south of Lynchburg for gas and grub, and ended up talking to a guy who usually runs HC with NASA Southeast. I served a guy at work in Lynchburg one time and he had a VIR shirt on so we started talking. There's a gaggle of those HC guys that are from the SE region that do VIR events. Not sure why he doesn't do MA since he lives in Lynchburg, though. Re: Surprise!: 'nother MMMiata - *insertusernamehere* - 03-28-2017 Wooo! You looked good out there bud! One of his cars has 292,000 miles on it, 270,000 of which were from racing. Grey NA right? It's been through several rebuilds, but it's also won the VIR 13hr a couple times. My SM has 180k on the chassis and the original motor made it until 170k (race car for 8 years before the motor replacement as my car was one the earliest SM builds). The new crate motor I installed is now starting it's 7th season untouched. Re: Surprise!: 'nother MMMiata - *insertusernamehere* - 03-29-2017 Scott Wrote:OH YOU! Let me tell you, you don't see a pack of young mmers roll up to the oak tree stands in a black 940 to watch the races and act like you don't know who we are. I expect a hello and how are you next time, sir. You're Miata is sexy as hell. And James didn't recognize who you were (by the car) til you drove away. No more silence from now do you understand me? (I'm kidding of course) Re: Surprise!: 'nother MMMiata - Scott - 03-30-2017 *insertusernamehere* Wrote:OH YOU! I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU, YOU QUIET LITTLE RASCAL. Lol. I was up all night on call when I made the decision at 8am at the hospital to head on down to VIR, I wasn't paying any attention. I most likely had my ear phones plugged in the scanner also. Next time I'll harass as needed. And thanks, it's the only Miata my wife wont let me sell RE: Surprise!: 'nother MMMiata - Gordonovski - 02-18-2018 Alright, bringing this back from the dead. After DD'ing the car through the summer, not really doing anything with it, putting it on coils that were way too low, then DD'ing through the winter and heavily considering getting a better car, I've been inspired to get this thing back up to speed after following Ryan's build and the $500 NA drop in our lap for a week. Since my DE weekend, the clutch/trans feel has slowly degraded, especially when in first in the cold. After finding out about the magical properties of Motorcraft MTF, I stopped at the local Ford dealer and picked some up from their parts dept. and headed into the garage with Taylor and Tyler on Friday to do the trans and diff fluid (after putting it off for so long). Man, what a difference. The first gear shimmy is completely gone and it feels like a new trans. I'm really happy with what a big difference doing a simple thing made. The car was also riding waaaaaaay too low, so Tyler helped me raise it up to the "SM recommended" 4 5/8" at the pinch welds. Looks and rides much better. A couple months ago, the car inexplicably began to have a slight pull to the right, so I picked up a new tie rod and threw that in today while Joey and Taylor worked on his red rocket. Surprisingly easy job and made a big difference in the way the car handles, seems much more nimble on her feet than before. The old tie rod end was pretty torn, so I'm going to put up the other side and make sure that one looks okay too. Hopefully I can buy Taylor's wheels if he sells the E30 without them, then other stuff this year includes getting two sets of brakes (track and DD), finding good used Koni yellows, and doing a few other small things to make the car less squeaky and feel better overall. I also need to find or paint the hood, then clean up a few other clear coat issues, but that's not top priority. Surprise!: 'nother MMMiata - JPolen01 - 02-18-2018 Why don't you just buy the wheels from Taylor? He has the e30 on bottle caps it looks like? He just wants to make sure it goes with the bottle caps before selling them to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: Surprise!: 'nother MMMiata - Senor_Taylor - 02-18-2018 Bingo. Wheels were contingent on 3 things. Sell on Miata, Sell on E30, or if neither of those, sell to Zach. Need to make sure the first two don't happen, but it's been tricky since the youngest tire out of the 8 tires on the Miata and E30 is 8 years old. I've got two buyers making offers on the E30 on bottle caps today. RE: Surprise!: 'nother MMMiata - Gordonovski - 02-18-2018 And it either of those offers come through, gonna hit paypal and sprint out there to put them on. Thanks, much needed improvement. Not sure if it's placebo, but the car feels quicker after everything we did today. Hopefully driving March, need to chat with Laura to see what we could work out.
