oh, i read it as being a stock 5-speed car that he converted to an automatic. which would be retarded considering how rare they are.

Prolly not for anybody here but a friend of mine and Lee's...89 Convertible 6spd w/434. I love the hardtop look.

This truly pains me but divorce forces sale of my baby.

Hurst shifter with white ball knob
New ujoints driveshaft and half shafts

Rear:
Recently rebuilt dana 44 with 3.73 rears
correct speedo gear

Suspension:
Lowered
Z51 shocks with stock FE1 springs and sways. Best riding C4 combo in my opinion
ZR-1 Wheels 275 fronts, 315 rear
Extra set of 17x12 ZR-1s with BFG drag radials

Electronics
Accel DFI VII with updated CALMAP and Wideband kit. (I will include laptop)
Fastlane Performance piggy back harness for stock computer which allows dashboard to function
Nice Alpine head unit with alpine speakers.
Ipod interface.

Brakes:
C5 fronts with SS lines on all sides. All calipers have speed bleeders

The bad:
Paint is a "10 footer"
Removed HVAC system for ease of engine access. I have all of the parts
Not emissions friendly
Seats could stand a re-dye job
Could use bushings
Needs new soft top. It works to keep rain out but that's it. It's never up in the summer anyway

There's more I am sure but I am tired of typing. The engine has at most 20hrs. Maryland Performance Center near Frederick, MD did all of the engine work. Great bunch of guys and very meticulous. I have more specifics for those interested. This is a driver, not a show car. I have recent receipts for over 17K. I have the original window sticker. Price is $13,500 A few pics below. I have many more...

...and please keep negative comments to yourself. This is hard enough

Holy crap, Dave is selling his car and getting divorced?? That sucks!! I'll have to give him a ring to catch up and make sure everything is cool.

I have driven this car and it is pretty scary! Tons of torque and an awesome engine sound.

Do you have the link to his post so I can post up and vouch for him?

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Steve85 - 11-15-2009

I was completely shocked myself.

Here you go. I'm about to send him a PM. I like the ideas of selling it to friend to buy back. I don't know if it's even possible to make that work, may depend on the nature of the divorce...

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - WRXtranceformed - 11-25-2009

I think this car is kind of cool, but it definitely needed a bigger engine swap...like potentially a newer M5 engine. And the price tag has to be a joke just to get attention.

"I decided today that it is not worth parting with my baby for less than $250,000. So the price starts here, regardless of any logic. It's mine and when someone wants it they have to pay my price to get it, period. Otherwise one shall build his/her own."

Yes, you read correctly; up until today, the asking price on eBay for this customized 1988 BMW 6-Series Coupe was a mouth-dropping quarter of a million dollars. Almost as insane as the $950,000 for the pipe-dream Plymouth Road Runner Concept we told you about in a recent posting. However, after a truckload of questions and suggestions but not a single offer, the seller decided to change tune and reset the auction setting a starting bid of $45,000.

So what's so special about this Bavarian 'shark', we hear you ask?

Well, aside from the obvious (rims, bodywork, special bodykit, full leather interior etc), the 1988 635 CSi Automatic has been completely overhauled mechanically with a 315HP 3.5-liter inline six-cylinder engine from the 1992 M5 E45 and a manual gearbox.

Overall, the seller claims to have spent over $20,000 in parts and more than five years of his life in building this project which he says comes to a total net cost of more than $92,000.

And while we truly admire his dedication to the project (read the detailed description on the eBay page), somehow we find it extremely hard that he'll even come close to breaking even.

On a side note, we couldn't help ourselves from looking at the pictures of the classic 6-Series again and again, thinking how well the coupe's "aggressively-elegant" design has aged and wondering if we'll be saying the same for its current day descendant in 30 years from now...

and that BMW 6 is a hot car! but with the ridiculous price tag it's obvious the owner doesn't really want to sell it. i guess i could put up my Titan on eBay for $40k and see if i get any biters.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - WRXtranceformed - 11-25-2009

All you BMW leghumpers and nobody has anything to say about that car?

I agree.. Id rather see that car stock. Look at the junk ass body kit. Bumpers front and rear are molded to the body. Thats the most retarded thing to do ever. and the exhaust looks like shit too

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Steve85 - 11-27-2009

I appreciate the mans efforts to make it his own, but it doesn't work for me either.
I feel the need to redeem the 6 series. Maybe a set of mild springs and +1 on the wheel size.

God I love the old-skool 6-series. There's one back home that I passed every day this past week going to work. That kind of champagne color, 635, so hot right now.

After college, I'm buying one.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Dave - 12-02-2009

The Z sounds like a pretty good deal unless it's a rust bucket. Low-pressure fuel pump will set you back ~$75. Having a shop cut out and weld in entire new floor pans on both sides is typically estimated at around $1000-1500 (virtually all labor, new pre-fabbed pans are only $300). Depending on the state of this car, it could just need some sheet metal patches...
