No problem dude, I guess I was just the "busted MM car taxi" this past weekend. A fellow MMer and I just picked up a new chassis for him for a TTC build on friday night Wink Goes in to get a half-cage next month.

Now that car was a FIND! But I'm drooling at what looks like the roof of your garages - Time for a lift!

Absolutely 2-car garage, detached, large. The really big issue is that its individual doors for the 2-car garage despite no wall between them. It was put in for looks, but its annoying, I like one big door. Itll be getting a lift, just depends on when

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - navin - 01-09-2012

Yeah, I can see that being annoying. But that's what car skates are for, you can turn the car how you want when its in there.

I have the same problem at my house. I usually just come in straight a little, cut the wheel all the way right and park diagonal through the middle of the garage. First time I did it, my mom freaks out thinking I won't be able to get it out. Tell her it will go out the same way it came in and she walks away confused.

I have the same setup, but I actually like the 2 separate doors. My Dad got me these: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200377295_200377295 and I do this:

CaRnage: basically cutting out the fender wells for OEM replacements i purchase. Also ensures both sides line up to the new USDM core support. When people do the JDM front w/core support they end up sawing off some material where the fender wells meet the core support.

ps. Mikey's #1

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - Mike - 01-29-2012

cost of this car + time + parts versus cost of buying something that wasn't cheap but also didn't suck?

you knew i wouldn't let you down.

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - navin - 01-30-2012

I'm not entirely sure -- for what i picked the car up for + parted out stuff it hasnt been too bad added with body shop time. The only clean title, 97's that have popped up have been in California have been easily 6k more than i paid. Confusedhrug:

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - Mike - 01-30-2012

is this considered a "clean title"?

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - xvxax - 01-30-2012

What if he just enjoys projects/working on cars? When it's done it will be perfect, ITRs aren't easy to find, and they seem to be holding steady in value. Who cares? Why is car restoration a hassle? I don't see how this is any different than picking up a classic and doing the same stuff. It's like asking a woodworker if it would be easier if he just bought his own chairs instead.

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - JustinG - 01-30-2012

Its Mikey......he needs no reason to hate.

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - navin - 01-30-2012

Mike's POV on things is always interesting, and like i said I don't mind his .02 cents. And yes Mike, I guess in the insurance people's eyes after the initial accident the car was not deemed a loss. At the same time, I really don't give a shit about the title, might as well have been a salvage. This car will never be sold to a 'collector' since the VIN's are not original for fenders/hood/bumpers.

But I guess I'll do my best to restore to it a point I feel happy with it. I did have a budget somewhat laid out when I thought about restoring it, but unseen circumstances that kind of throw that out. I'm not building this car to put me in debt over my eyes or anything, but at the same time i do admit the purchase was a bit rushed. Live and learn.

I like ITRs, and you like writing reviews on yelp so I guess you'll never understand why i continue to fix this hooptie.

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - navin - 01-30-2012

Re: Project 1997 ITR #280 - Mike - 01-30-2012
