Gave her a real wash for the first time since I got to JMU. I didn't know it could be this shiny. Used some wash and wax stuff, and used like 10 microfibers to dry it. Vacuumed and all that good business. Feel nice.

Still have an insane amount of gear oil stench in the bed, even after scrubbing it with dish soap. Oh well.

Being the first hand wash since I installed the sliders, I noticed how impossible there are to clean.

Also, the amount of mud in my skids from our little offroad excursion on Saturday is insane. I've been continually spraying inside them and I still get pure red mud. I'll have to drop my skid and clean them tomorrow.

Noticed some frame rust on my leaf shackles, in addition to the copious amounts of rust elsewhere. Hopefully I can sand and cover some spots with the rust-protectant paint I got to cover up those ugly bare primer spots on my sliders from where I tore off 50% of the bed liner from them at shoe creek.

On top of all that... I just noticed that I'm missing my entire front passenger mud flap. Don't ask me how I lost it and never noticed. Wheeling too hard I guess B)

LIGHTLY sanded and painted a ton of rust on my rear shackles and dropped the tire to spray the carrier too. Looks much better.

Also, priced out my new suspension parts. $980 shipped. I've been saving forever, and only have a little ways to go!

Got my insurance dropped from $470 a quarter to $290! Woohoo!

My buddy also gave me a "carbon fiber" TRD badge!

Thinking I may take my badges off and paint them black?

Still debating on whether or not to take the Ranger badge off my door and to put one or two of those silly manufacturer badges back on the tailgate. Opinions?

Cut my exhaust after the axle so I can clear my Old Man EMU springs when I get them. Also evens out the exhaust sound. Nice being able to hear it all around, instead of just on the passenger side. The true test will be tomorrow on the ride back to JMU.

Also added grip tape to my sliders. They weren't slick before, but now people won't wear the paint off when they get in and out.

Just dip them black and that way you don't have to take them off and you can remove it if you don't like it. You don't even have to tape them for dip. Just tape off big box around them and spray it then peel off the dip That's not on the emblem. If you don't completely screw it up the elevation change between gate and emblem will give you a near perfect break every time.

As far as other emblems that don't belong on your truck....

I came across that plastidip idea the other day. I might try it. The ones on my tailgate look awful.

I think I'll take off my Ranger badge, but I like the VW one. It blends in very well. So well that no one notices it.

Any way, my truck is pretty noticeable/distinguishable now that I don't need the badges for people to recognize me.

I have a slow leak where the upper rad hose goes into the block. I already replaced the hose, so I don't think it's that. I'll try tightening the worm clamp a whole lot and see if that helps. Didn't realize it was leaking until I noticed my overflow tank was almost empty. A little bit of dirt and debris floating around in there too. Topped her off. We'll see what happens. Hopefully I don't lose it going to VIR tomorrow Big Grin

So, went to the car wash today and spent a ton of money and used the soap spray, soap brush, and power rinse for like 15 minutes today.

STILL a film of gear oil in my bed. I'm thinking I might have to ditch my bed liner...

Have you tried a aerosol can of degreaser like the foam stuff you can get at Walmart? Or concentrated solution of simple green or super purple?

I have not. I originally didn't because I didn't want to spend money, but I've long since spent too much. I guess i'll have to get some purple power. That shit's expensive.

Hell you could probably just pour some on their undiluted. It has a guide on the back of the jug that suggests how much to dilute it for different purposes, I think to try and lift that oil out of the liner you want the full unfiltered experience. Park somewhere level, pour it so it covers the stain, work it in with a stiff brush, let it sit a while and rinse it out.

If that doesn't work, just pour more oil in there so it all matches. :dunno:

You can go late at night to one of the do it yourself places around here. They have to have traps/filters to collect the soap so you won't be hurting the environment dumping purple power everywhere. Late at night will probably be pretty desolate so you can take your time and let it sit for a little.

I didn't think it was that expensive but I've only bought the big jug from my old work for an employee discount. Be careful what you let undiluted purple sit on though. It'll stain some things and side note that won't apply but it'll eat away at raw aluminum.

The gunk brand (i think thats the brand) engine degreaser might work and it comes in a foam so it'll sit right where you want it.

Used half a bottle of purple power in the bed of my truck today and spent $5 in the power washer thing. Tons of black water rinsed out.

Let it dry and guess what! STILL FUCKING SMELLS LIKE OIL.

I give up until I can get home and take my toolbox off so I can really do something drastic to the bed liner.
