ebay tires...thats how i got the last replacement for my subaru..worked pretty good - and there were enough choices i could find them in any state of wear - so I was able to get one about the same tread left as my old tires

Ok my bmw had a real slow leak on the driver's side rear tire since I bought it. I looked over the tire and haven't seen any signs of a puncture or a repair so could it just be a poor mounting job? At any rate, I'll be replacing the rears with in the next month or so - any suggestions?

the car isn't driven too much, so mileage isn't a huge concern and I would rather spend the money on a grippy tire than wrap the car around a tree. I "plan" on getting snow tires hopefully before, ya know, it snows so my preference would be towards summer tires.

bridgestone re01r is going to be the best grip you'll find in a street tire, but they run about $240/ea. next up would be the 615 azenis.
i'd also consider bumping to a 255/35/18 in the rear. you have the power to warrant it.

Dont the Re01rs wear quickly? Ive never heard any bad things about the falken azenis, but ive mostly experimented with cheaper tires.
PS- if your interested I got a set of 225/40/18 dunlop winter sports with 90% tread on em.

yep, but he said the car isn't driven much so he doesn't really care. if it's driven as much as my civic, re01rs that see light autox duty will last 4-5 years

LOL well shit, but you have to remember your civic is cute and small, while the bimmer is a pig like my car. Soo...we go through tires a lot quickly. the most ive gotten out of a tire was a year.

I still havent bought replacements for my Re-92, and they're coming up on 50k miles. Not bad for a 3400lb car

i'd imagine he'll get close to 10k miles out of them... i get 15k out of a slighty harder compound on the s2k. 10k of "light" driving is still at least 3 years.

You dont go autocrossing or track use do you? My cars 3156 stock and ive removed a few things. Out of summer tires, the pirellis I only got 3 months out of. My nexens have survived a long time now, but they are not sticky at all.
I assume he will be doing some autox, maybe track use with that car, so you have to take that into account.

well I claim I will start autox, but thats about it. I would really like to get into it, it's just not on the top of my priority list right now.
mike - for 10k miles that would be closer to 2 years for me, but still a pretty light amount either way.
Am I really going to notice the difference between "extreme performance" and "max performance" as according to tire rack? is the dry traction that much better, or the wet traction that much worse?

Anyone use Kumho Ecsta all seasons? They have one with a 600 treadwear
