Jesus Christ you guys. Don't you think I understand that? Have you not read a single post I've written? I already conceded it won't run brand new games. And I already said that it won't run anything that needs a standalone graphics card (like many new games do.) But you cannot deny that a VM will "play PC games on a Mac" because it will, and depending on WHAT GODDAMN GAME you want to play, it will be fine. Now, since Channing has said he wants to play new 3D racing games, I've already said that a dual boot would be the best option for him.

Now, can we drop it. Fuck me sideways with a lunchbox.

there haven't been any games released in like the past decade that don't require a hardware card. i don't count solitaire or mahjong.

well we've heard at least two people saying that WOW is playable, and that is actually pretty demanding....

My recently dead compy couldn't play WoW to save its life, but could play LFS, so.... yeah.

Guess I'll just have to try it.

*edit* Awesome, they already shipped it. Tongue

holy shit, i want that lunchbox. and an apple IIGS.

chad Wrote:Son, we use something here that is about 2 generations ahead of VMWare, we use it on top of SELinux to run windows, soliars, another instance of linux and a custom OS, all at the same time, also they can be run at different classification levels (just so you understand how subdivided the VMs are). It just isn't possible to directly access the hardware in a VM like you can natively. Everything in a VM has to pass through several levels before it can get at the hardware, and those levels MUST understand the command to interpert it correctly, do you see a new version of VMware coming out when a new copy of DirecX does or NVidia driver does? No, so it will NEVER even get close to the level of performance modern games need. VM's have their place, 3D games is not one of them.

i'm trying to imagine chad with his southern draw say this. it sounds pretty hilarious in my head. "boy, i'll tell you what, we dont 'preciate your VMWare kind 'round these parts."

ah sorry, they were both from .paul. But I can see how you might have missed it since it's on both pages one AND two. :evileye:

I can probably get you a IIgs Maeng. It would be totally sweet. I can't help you with the lunchbox though. I plan on making a sculpture out of a pallet of LCII's when I get a house.

I might not go for the full stargate, but maybe an arch:

Oh I'm sure that "everyone" was doing it then......

Just like not using ratcheting tiedowns to secure a motorcycle.

Actually I saw quite a few people using those clamp tie downs. Coleman was even trying to sell my buddy Molly some when she came to pick up her bike. I was like "Ruh uh".

- .RJ - 10-25-2006

A lot of people have unprotected sex too. In fact, a pull-type tie down is just like that.

At any rate, I cant let an opportunity to take a pot-shot at paul slide Wink

man, fuck carmen sandiego! (acutally, thats not a bad idea. imagine the bragging rights "I fucked carmen sandiego!!" and then you could make a pr0n movie called "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego's balloon knot"...... anyway I digress)

it was all about oregon trail. less thinking, more shooting buffaloes (and more dysentery!).
