Does the number of meetings someone attends dictate whether or not they are a member? I always thought it was that $20 they gave us.

I went to meetings a bunch of times when I was still in school =p
You guys aren't cool enough for me to make the trip down in the middle of the week for meetings though
I did pay my dues last semester though, and donated $50 to the GRM car. Am I still a member ?!? =(

i'd totally consider an EVO. In fact, I've thought about it as my next car. I'm not saying I'd own it for a long time, but you can get a used one a lot cheaper than you can get an STi, and it is still a lot of fun to drive. I wouldn't perceived myself owning one longer than 9 months, whereas I'd like to keep an STi for a while if I got one. I've never been very impressed by the fit and finish of any Mitsu cars. Considering I worked at the dealership with G and I also used to own an eclipse, I can say they always left me asking for more.

I found this on MachV's website coincidentally, from Dan the owner:
"As to why the Evo nudges past the STi in handling, it's probably a lot of things, from the suspension calibration (Evo has firmer shocks and springs) to the chassis rigidity. Evo is a purpose-built chassis; although it's "evolved" from the base Lancer, it's got TONS of reinforcements throught the car. The STi is closer to a WRX in terms of the bare shell than the Evo is to the Lancer. The Evo has a much quicker steering ratio than the WRX STi."

Dan, is of course biased
Since its inception, the Impreza has been engineered for as the foundation for a WRC rallycar. (to replace the Legacy that Subaru used at the time) Performance Imprezas (ie- WRX and up) have always made up more than 80% of their sales, and the car simply wasnt built as an econobox and then added crap to it.
In my personal opinion, the Impreza chassis is much stiffer, more responsive, and has less bump steer and handling quirks than the EVO.

Of course it has tons of reinforcements, it was built off a $12000 car. The base model Impreza was born with much more sporting intentions than the base Lancer so its only natural that the Impreza chassis would need less structural reinforcement.
Of course I haven't seen a side to side comparison on a chassis dyno so I'm just shooting in the dark but that statement sounded a little suspect to me.

Sorry Evan. I'm going to have to side with everyone else. First off, I have a current TG episode where the EVO comes out on top. And like everyone agrees... myself included... they'd still pick the STi. If you get inside both of them, there is a serious difference in feel. Everything from when you close the door. The STi has a solid THUD and the evo has a metallic slam. The interior on the evo is cheap. The boost lag is painful.
The STi drives better, FEELS more well made. LOOKS more well made. Apparently is more reliable.
I've driven both thanks to Carmax. Brett drove the STi there as well. I'm sorry, but there's no way you can think that the STi feels more responsive. If by handling quirks you mean "not having consistent understeer," you're right... the evo doesn't have as much of that as the STi. The EVO.... sadly... feels more agile.

A car's suspension setup and its chassis are two very different things. Understeer has very little to do with a chassis (other than weight distribution, which STi is better). If you ever spend some time on track at the limits of many different cars, in many different suspension setups you will learn to recognize the differences between setup and chassis. I already said the STi has a very dissapointing suspension stock, but the underpinnings of the car are superior.

it will grow on me as it becomes more popular, as most cars do (z4 was a good example -- didn't like it before, now i think it's kinda hot).
I'm still not a fan of the inner grill, but it sets it apart from other cars (never actually seen it) -- alfa romeo doesn't count since it was still only one grill. The rear taillights look weird on the new STi. Kinda looks like death or a skeleton....not a fan....yet.

my only issue with the car is that the nice lines and curves of the front end dont match the boxy rear. and the ugly tail lights, but you know I would replace them with altezzas anyway y0!!!1
