I can bring that instead of 4-wheelers if there is a guarantee I'll get to use it! Big Grin

Re: MM 15 Year Anniversary Celebration - Tyler.M - 07-31-2015

I'm game to help plan, organize, whatever. I like the idea of a track since a lot of you old farts have moved into the adult world of road racing.

Re: MM 15 Year Anniversary Celebration - Sully - 07-31-2015

I like the idea of it being more social than racing related. It'd be cool to have the option to race but I don't think the event should hinge on it. (I think we could have more fun going wheel to wheel with big wheels or something)

Some good ideas so far though. That's all I have. Let me know how I can help.

I'm voting for renting a space in hburg. Problem with festival is everything has to be done in house, no outside food/beer.

Student apartment, let's face it, they are all too small and likely shitholes, we can do better.

Are there any vineyards/breweries with rentable spaces? Is Uber in Hburg?

Can you rent like the top floor of Jimmy Madisons?

Excuse me, my shithole is very nice.

Far out idea, Weyers Cave Community Center is about 15 mins south of the 'burg, huge parking lot, lotta fields for activities, large indoor facility. Not too sure on the rental pricing for an evening, but it fits the bill pretty perfectly apart from not being in Harrisonburg. I would also then be able to contribute room for a few people to crash at.

Re: MM 15 Year Anniversary Celebration - Tyler.M - 08-01-2015

If we get really desperate we can always do Pump It Up.

Just imagine a group of millennials and Gen-x'ers rolling up in racekars of various distress bouncing around, half-hammered from the duke dog handle sized flasks we've snuck in. We can finish up with a Spiderman birthday cake then continue to JMU, aggressively revving our collective horsepowers in front of the diminutive James Madison statue on campus while one our 18 alumni that are closet professional photographers climb every floor of every building on the quad to get the lighting sick as can be. Jake can provide a mobile beer carriage in his blurble-mobile. Rex can talk about squatting all day. Chris Kardashian and myself will show up in full leathers and be pedantic motorcyclist assholes. Miata guys can play pretty, pretty princess and have tea parties. Polecat will provide complimentary rim vinyl wraps. We'll end the evening shit talking each other's cars until we launch into fisticuffs and say our goodbyes on the jailhouse front steps in the morning, covered in bruises and wondering if we can get the bloodstains out of our MM hoodies it took 7 years to finally get. 15 is a tough time. Might as well play the part, MM.

I'm booking it now.

Hahaha, Tyler. Nicely done.

I like Josh's idea of the community center. Wouldn't be all that far, really. Does HBurg have something like that as well?

Maybe we can get a few adult-sized Big Wheels and have a drunken BigWheelocross.

It does.

If we're seriously talking big wheels, which I hope we are because that sounds amazing, this is also adjacent to the Westover park which has a lot of paved roads we can screw around on. Frisbee golf course, too.

Does it have giant downhill slopes though? Riding a big wheel on flat pavement sounds terribly boring.

I can rent a van and drive everyone back to the hotel(s)!

Re: MM 15 Year Anniversary Celebration - PDenbigh - 08-03-2015

I think we need someplace private and we literally sign wavers and get our inner hoonigan on. Because the truth is, get this group together and the hoonigan will happen. It's not a question of if, but a question of how many stitches.

Some things I've always wanted to try include:
ATV-powered rope-tow water jump on an innertube
car soccer ala top gear's 3-wheeled episode
adult drift trike
circle track on a motorcycle
hay field rallyx/gymkhana (square or round bales with the occasional cow, tractor, and farmer's daughter)
(just sayin...)

I wish I had a venue to offer Undecided.

Here's a start to the waiver:
"By even considering coming to this event, you will die and your reputation will be totally null and void." Signed:______________

I DO think there needs to be a notable motorsports aspect to this. Organized? Perhaps not. But some sort of memories on 2-4 wheels. This is Madison MOTORSPORTS after all. But I do also agree that perhaps a legit track day might be too chaotic. Thus the hay field idea. Maybe that's my inner West Virgninian coming out?

THUS, I make a motion that:
MM forms a committee of the past MM presidents who can each nominate 1-2 other people to join if they want. Because honestly, doing this democratically will get us nowhere.

Re: MM 15 Year Anniversary Celebration - G.Irish - 08-03-2015

So let's say we split some things out. We'd make it 15 years of MM, and have a couple of event weekends. The focal point would be the JMU weekend but there'd be some other big celebratory events for those who wanna do it.

MM Anniversary Bash Weekend at JMU
-Car Show
-Dinner/banquet
-Afterparty
-MM Autox

MM Anniversary Track Weekend
-Piggyback on track weekend at Summit/VIR
-MM run group?
-MM paddock RV (AC, TV's, gaming), group lunches
-After party on Saturday

MM Anniversary Group Trip???
-24 Hours of Daytona, Sebring, Petit Le Mans?
or
-VegASS?
-rent exotics at LV Speedway
-track day at Spring Mountain Motorsports park (1 hr away, can rent CTS-V's, Vettes, Radicals)
-race karts
-shoot auto weapons at the Gun Store
-gambling, partying, etc.

Re: MM 15 Year Anniversary Celebration - Goodspeed - 08-03-2015

^ I am in love with this idea. Especially Vegass.

Re: MM 15 Year Anniversary Celebration - Ryan T - 08-03-2015

I feel like splitting it out into multiple weekends will make it less likely that everyone will get together. A few will go to this weekend or that weekend and not the others. If we do one big event for 15 years we are more likely to get everybody together at the same time/place.

Re: MM 15 Year Anniversary Celebration - BLINGMW - 08-03-2015

PDenbigh Wrote:"By even considering coming to this event, you will die and your reputation will be totally null and void."
I was thinking, "By attending this event you will experience serious personal injury or death. A full refund will be offered if we fail to deliver."

Ryan T Wrote:I feel like splitting it out into multiple weekends will make it less likely that everyone will get together.
Agreed

+1 to this idea.

I'm in. Email incoming to some folks.
