Or lost in the noise. Sounds like mikey got a great deal on the CELwagen, so mikey shouldnt worry about it anymore? :dunno:

Re: White One! - Mike - 06-22-2010

$500 is $500.

I got a good deal, yes.

No, I didn't get the 1.9% (got not much higher... still a good rate) because of some ding on my credit from Comcast saying they never received some equipment from me, which is 100% BS, but how do I prove I don't have something? Yeah, that sucks. So that $200 ding cost me $1000 in extra financing. Only adds to my love of Comcast...

Re: White One! - Apoc - 06-22-2010

It's more the principal of it. No one likes to feel like someone took advantage of them, especially car dealers.

I suspect there wasn't any "dealer cash" built into the price to begin with and they just saw it as a way to try and recover $$ from the deal.

Off topic, but I would try and settle it somehow with Comcast for future financing. Even if it stays on your report, an open issue impacts you a lot more than one that's shown as resolved. Even if it costs you $50 to settle it, it'll be worth it in the long run.

Yep, that's what the financier suggested.

Re: White One! - Sijray21 - 06-22-2010

I'm sure you've examined the paper work and if you still have questions talk directly with the dealer and rep you worked with to get your answers. I followed up on a few things and they were more than happy to give me the proper answer or fix anything that should've been done at the time of purchase.

So I guess it's not itemized in the invoice?

Re: White One! - Mike - 06-22-2010

Nope. Agreed price + transport + this thing = price, a single line-item.

Re: White One! - Jeff - 06-22-2010

Very cool. I didn't even notice you got something until I saw it in your sig. Nice ride bro.

Mike Wrote:So... This is starting to bug me, and I can't seem to find any answers on the great interwebs. When we were working through financing, I was told that if I took the VW financing, I would not receive a $500 dealer cash that was built into the price of the car... so the price would increase $500. Should I have held them up at that point and walked out? Did I get run for an easy $500? Or is this a common thing? I've never bought a new car... The guy that was there with me didn't find it unusual. Time to write a letter and complain/promise to shit on their dealership all over the Internet?

That's pretty standard on new cars, especially popular models. You get the rebate or the rate, not both. Subaru was always good about giving buyers both, but Ford/Lincoln/Mercury and Suzuki almost always let you have one or the other. Typically it would be like $3000 customer cash and the rate; or $3,000 customer cash + $500 dealer cash and standard financing rate. That extra $500 was enticing for people who were just stroking a check or financing very little while the 0% or 1.9% etc were enticing for people financing a significant portion of the purchase price.

Re: White One! - Mike - 06-22-2010

So since I didn't get the special rate, I shouldn't have had to pay the additional amount, right? Still not clear to me Tongue

But you still used a rate through VW finance right? If you used a rate through some credit union or bank the dealership found you should get that $500 back, if you still used VW finance (even you didn't get the 1.9%) you lose the $500. The only way you could use VW finance AND get the $500 would be if you were financed at the VW standard rate (probably something outrageous).

Maybe you got the special financing...which was then adjusted according to your credit worthiness. "Financing as low as 1.9%* or additional $500 dealer cash back"

*Not all buyers will qualify.

Comcast owes you $500.

Ok, that kinda makes sense.

Steve, I don't want to think of Comcast. I have to view their shitty signal on my TV every night... Ungh. That's enough of a reminder.

Re: White One! - Jeff - 06-23-2010

Sounds to me like they showed the rebate in the price and when you opted to go with VW cut-rate financing they could no longer offer that money (as others have already stated.) I hate it when dealers show ALL the rebates and special programs in a price. That's how we loose business to places in NOVA. People go the hour and a half drive to the dealer only to find out they can't get the rebate and the financing nor the military discount showed in the price in the paper ad. But they drove that far so by god they are leaving with a car. Happens all the time. Wait, you aren't a member of Farm Bureau? I'm sorry that was another $500. Assholes.

Re: White One! - Mike - 06-27-2010

Just returned from a 400mi trip. Car is MONEY on the highway. Feels so damned solid and the engine feels so at home at cruising speed. Trip was done before I knew it... Averaged 32mpg at 75ish... Two thumbs way up.

Re: White One! - WRXtranceformed - 06-28-2010

Nice that's really good!!

Re: White One! - Mike - 07-08-2010

So I'll be calling for my first repair tomorrow. The rear window fluid hose is leaking like R Kelly. DRIP DRIP DRIP.

Re: White One! - Mike - 07-08-2010

So it only drips for about 5 minutes after use... Hrmph. Am I being picky?

No. You have a warranty, use it while you can. I'd nitpick the shit out of the car.

Re: White One! - Sijray21 - 07-09-2010

Although there is a TSB out for that fault, it only happens to me during WOT. It's been happening less frequently for me as of late, but when you bring it in ask for the recall of the driver's foot well vent (or something) and ask them to verify the TPMS readings as that is also a common error. I fixed mine with the VAGCOM, but having all this done when you bring it in couldn't hurt.
