Boo-ya - thanks for all the work, lookin good. That head is a lot cleaner than I thought it was going to be (previous owner putting Lucas in the motor, oil black as sin.) Also, I'm not too pressed on getting the Walbaro installed (at least until I buy a FPR) so if you are feeling lazy don't worry about it.

hahah well I really appreciate you letting me use your car so I am not really too lazy about this.

Called the mitsubishi dealer, dont have on in stock locally, but Stohlman Mitsubishi has one back where I live in NOVA. I might be headed up to NOVA tomorrow night and part of saturday so ill probably pick it up there. Just sucks cause the car wont run till I get that.

Price quote was 157.65, but ill be using my discount there and itll be cheaper.

- ViPER1313 - 09-11-2008

They can't overnight it from one dealership to the next?

Also, Advance and Autozone carry the balancers for ~$90 (1 day shipping, not in stock) - IDK if that is a part that should be OEM or if the after-market stuff is ok to use.

- D_Eclipse9916 - 09-11-2008

OEM only, and ill be in NOVA anyway probably so ill pick it up. If I dont go itll be in tuesday and its not a problem.

Since I couldnt do anything without the special tool to get off the fucking crank bolt (impact didnt work and I didnt have my angle grinder down here to build the special tool, taking care of that this weekend), I did other stuff. Valve Cover Gasket, and miscellaneous seals. Water pump and oil filter housing gasket. Yeah fuck razor blades getting off gaskets, damn near cut my own finger off. And measured up and got everything for "making my own special tool"

Set both the cams so all the valves are closed and use a starter-bump w/ a breaker bar. Don't hurt yourself yet - those studs are going to need lots of finger dexterity.

EDIT - and send me your paypal unless you enjoy being poor.

I dont like that method, I prefer to make the mitsubishi special tool. I had it for mine and jasons but I dont have it for yours as it was a friends and he needed it back.

I already measured everything and drilled. Just need an angle grinder to flush away some stuff so it fits nice and tight. I want the tool made anyway so next time I do my belt.

Done and Done...

Car is back up and running. Only a few more things to do inlcuding the 2g manifold, exhaust studs, and fuel pump.

- D_Eclipse9916 - 09-21-2008

Exhaust manifold studs replaced and 2g manifold replaced. Only thing left to do is the fuel pump.

btw adam, I thought you might want to see this, although its only 2.5 inch...

Magnaflow is one of the best sounding mufflers out there IMO... not ricey and has a great rumble. I'm going to install a Magnaflow resonator on the TL-S at some point.

- D_Eclipse9916 - 09-22-2008

Im not quite so sure. I have a polished magnaflow 3 to dual 2.5 inch im thinking of throwing on the eclipse, but 2 of my friends with those setups get a lot of droning noise... Yes it would be stealthy, but I love the sound of my apexi dunk.

- WRXtranceformed - 09-22-2008

I ran mine with a high flow cat, so that might have cut down some of the drone. Drone doesn't really bother me though... have you ever ridden in my old STI? haha

- HAULN-SS - 09-22-2008

man, i put those dynomax in my SS, and it really drones at certain RPM ranges..but those are the same ranges where i'm in a happy place..so i'm ok with it.

- ViPER1313 - 09-22-2008

So does the manifold actually seal? Fix any of the lag issues?

- D_Eclipse9916 - 09-22-2008

Manifold seals, fixed the lag issues by a ton! Now holds boost (stock 12psi for now) all the way to redline.

- Gs dewd - 09-23-2008

I have a spare 6bolt oil pan if you still need one. If you perfer new then you can get them at autozone for like $60. I had no choice but to remove my balance shafts due to a bearing going south on one and the shaft getting pretty messed up. But I have no ill effects with them gone.

- ViPER1313 - 11-14-2008

SO....

the Talon held up on track with only mild drama (0 oil pressure reading on track due to a loose wire, squeaking belt that was tightened after the first session, melted timing belt cover that was fixed with side cutters and red bull cans.)

Thanks DJ (really) - thing is 100% now.

How much do you want for the Alpine stuff (cause it's baller and I'm lazy.)

- Maengelito - 11-14-2008

haha, the red bull can heat shield was more ghetto than boobies' ghetto-ingenuity. Did the new brakes hold up well?

- ViPER1313 - 11-14-2008

Pretty well - they faded a bit by the end of each session, but I think that's more me using too much brake than the pads not working well.

- D_Eclipse9916 - 11-14-2008

Awesome, it looked like it held up well. So you gonna buy my heatshield now? hehehe. She looked good on track. Let me get back to you on the alpine stuff because the head unit is goodspeeds but the changer is mine.
