I'm still out. You're playing a shell game (lulz, no pun intended). You can spread out the costs over time... but you don't have a car that runs in the mean time, and you wouldn't if you were saving your money for a running example, either. But if you want to start with a shell, by all means, rock out. It's excellent fun, a great learning experience, blah blah blah. Perhaps it's me, but it still doesn't fit in as "cool" the way a Grand National does (sorry, I've got no idea what half the other links in here were, since most are to dead CL posts).

Sure... but who's posting Honda shells?

And - oops: I just realized that I said "only in your head, Andy" figuring that he was the one posting it. So, uhm, mybad.

A turbo shell and an NA shell are the same thing. Everything swaps over and the only difference is the front calipers and pads. It would be a much better idea to buy a N/A car for 2K and swap in a motor.

Why is that? Seems like you waste 1200 bucks that way.

Goodspeed Wrote:Agree, some might see that as a perfect starting point. Not everyone has 5 to 7+ grand to drop on a MR2T right away to get the car they want. That seems like a decent shell to start with; find a JDM motor, interior, etc and slowly build it up. I'm sure someone with a garage and some time and patience could turn that shell into something impressive.

I'm with Goodspeed on this one. I mean, it's not the century's best deal, but it looks fairly straight and clean, and would be a great candidate for a Northstar V8 swap.

fixed.

1200 is worth PITA+time+energy spent. In the mean time, you get a functional car that you can develop your suspension with. You and I have both bought non running cars to do swaps with and they both proved to be a royal pain in the dick.

Seems like all the extra "little bits" you'd get would be worth not having the hassle of finding, too, when you get a complete car.

'Cause you know shell + motor != Complete Car. In theory, sure, but it never works out that way.

I'm just weird - I like tearing things down to the bone and replacing it with better parts.

I should have learned my lesson with the civic Wink

Did you ever find that squirrel that was running around the back of your hatch?

- navin - 04-01-2008

I tried to think of a funny asian joke for at least a minute, but came up with nothing.

It's my damn exhaust - its all one piece and rattles against the undercarriage of the car. I HATE YOU ALL.

ps. My heat works now, so who now has the most busted car?

I have no heat in the E30, so do I win most busted?

- navin - 04-01-2008

Rofl. No, it most definitely != potential low-buck track car, no matter what's on the other side of the equation.

- mrbaggio - 04-03-2008

That thing has been for sale for almost an year now.

- drivesideways46 - 04-04-2008

So, here's the Mustang I've been drooling over for the past couple of hours at work: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/sh ... p?t=475499

In the seller's own words:
Torch Red 03 Mach 1 $31k
8600 miles

Basically, it has everything that a Cobra would aspire to having - all supporting mods EXCEPT the only thing I haven't done is change the rear axles - and I would suggest it for sticky tires. I opted for some of the best parts available (For example, I went with a complete Maximum Motorsports tubular front end instead of the less expensive UPR/D&D stuff)

I keep thinking about my new job, and how this car MAY be attainable...then I remember that I'm looking for that house/garage mod and that makes me sad.

Ah well, there will ALWAYS be another car to lust after.

--i wont part this out all it needs is a head everything is still on the car.

Busted T-Belt, no doubt. Dumbasses. Not worth 500 bucks.

- HAULN-SS - 04-08-2008

Ah - I was wondering why it was missing the head. Seemed like an odd thing to sell a car like that.
