Dragon Wrote:So let me try to understand something here, because someone chooses not to let you over (which they have no obligation to do so just because you have your blinker on) y'all get pissed? Sure it'd be courteous of them to slow down a little and let you over, but not everyone is a courteous driver.

Well, first of all, if there isn't room enough for me to get my car inbetween 2 others, then the person in back is following to close and you have already broken the law, and yes, if I need to get over, I'm coming over, one way or the other. I've put a few people in the ditch before for being an asshole. They always move, that's my motto.

WRXtranceformed Wrote:Yes, because in my case, there was plenty of room for me to merge over but the guy was speeding up purposely to close the gap. That's pretty queer. If there was no space to begin with, then it's a little more understandable.
In your case I can understand being pissed off, the guy was accelerating to prevent you from moving over. I was more so commenting in general because several others had said they were pissed when people won't let them over.

If you're on a bike you can look back and wave at them... by the time they are done doing the ^w-t-f, over? thing you've got enough room to merge in Smile

are you serious? don't you think that's a little excessive? i'm sure you won't be upset at all when someone puts you in a ditch with Anne in the back seat.

i drive just as aggressively as the next guy but there's a point where you just have to say, ok let this guy go, i'll get in behind him. i'll get to my destination 2 seconds later....oh noes!

- Mike - 03-07-2007

mmmm... you kept it cooler than me. the second he touched my car, he would have been on the ground and i would have been gone.

- HAULN-SS - 03-07-2007

I was once the guy standing in the intersection yelling at someone banging on their side glass. Some freaking guy was comign up behind me at a stoplight, and kept rolling forward, little more...little more as i'm watching in the rearview..then i feel the tap. Slammed it into park, flew out of the car and right right in the guys face blowing up all over him - he was clearly hispanic..pulled the "no english" shit with me and kind of shrugged...light turned green so I went and got back in the car and left.

When I really almost lost it was when he said that he wanted to punch me in the face. He was probably 4" taller than me but I would have fucked that motherfucker up right there in the Moe's ordering line in front of the cop if he touched me.

To be honest, it's almost more satisfying making someone like that look like a whiny bitch in front of an authority figure than to lay them out on the floor. Verbal battles can have an equal psychological impact on the loser to getting their ass kicked, and the possible long term consequences on the winner are usually much less severe. I guess that's the Quaker in me talking

I'd a laid that bitch out if he touched me though. That's when all that stuff goes out the window, because then it's self-defense and I'm in the right.

With the little girl in the back seat I stay far enough back from the car in front of me so anything short of a semi can get between. Ever heard of 'tailgating'? Don't do it. Do it and don't let me in, expect the ditch.

- WRXtranceformed - 03-07-2007

"Expect the ditch!" lol that would make an awesome bumper sticker.

that's stupid of you. look for damages and if there isn't any, get back in your car. if there are damages, don't let the person leave, and call the police requesting someone who can speak spanish.

- HAULN-SS - 03-07-2007

Intentionally bumping someones is an entirely different level than rear-ending them. They were already at a complete stop before the rolling forward began.

- Mike - 03-07-2007

are you certain it was intentional? was he snickering or something? it sounds like he just didn't keep his foot on the brake. it's happened to me a couple times, but i realize it (and don't drive an automatic) before anything happens.

- REED - 03-07-2007

that reminds me of when I was stopped at a stop sign behind a lady in a wagon. I guess she felt she was "too far" into the intersection and decided that she was just got throw it into reverse hit the gas and hope for the best. def. didn't even look. Luckily I noticed before contact was made and laid on the horn and then she gave me the classic "what?" look in the review. i really wanted to slap her in the face

- HAULN-SS - 03-07-2007

i'm quite sure he knew where the brake was...this was not a continuous roll forward - it was an "eek forward" a little bit at a time until the guy in front of you gets out and beats the fuck out of you

- ScottyB - 03-07-2007

yes. i don't. i didn't realize you were only talking about tailgaters. if that's the case, than yeah....put em in the ditch.

i like Lee's idea for a bumper sticker...would cafepress do that?

- Feersty - 03-07-2007

Lee glad you made the best of situation that could have ended up bad.
