I live at Lake monticello, im assuming you got a place in like kents store or something, which means i live like 10 minutes away. Small world eh? Small indeed... We looked in Lake Monticello, but couldn't find a place with a big enough lot for us (and in our price range). And too much rice  DierwulfBL Wrote:oh, if you need help moving in just let me know since i do live so close i wont mind helping you out. Or if you need any help finding the best twisties around here with no cops let me know Also if you ever want to take advantage of the Lake Monticello facilities(pool, lake, tennis courts, boating) i can call you in. Hope you like it out here in the boonies We love it. I like only being able to see a couple other houses, and to have our property bordered by gravel roads and horse pastures. What I don't like is the difficulty of getting low-latency high-speed internet. As for the LM facilities - awesome. We may just take you up on that. It was basically our only regret not living inside the Lake. - Dave - 06-02-2004 mongooze Wrote:It was basically our only regret not living inside the Lake. Other regrets from not living in the lake: -ability to eat something other than fish every night -freedom to travel to surrounding territories not restricted to waterways -flooding from large storms -inability to breathe air -showering in something other than lake water -constantly worrying about where the bigger fish is - Feersty - 06-02-2004 True that - JohnC - 06-02-2004 Dave Wrote:mongooze Wrote:It was basically our only regret not living inside the Lake. -outlook for b00st poor.... - Mike - 06-02-2004  to dave - DierwulfBL - 06-03-2004 i hear you on the high speed internet. it was exactly a year ago when they FINALLY offered us any sort of high speed internet at the lake. Seeing how you don't live at the lake though i predict that you will never get the option. I remember calling adelphia 2 years ago and asking when itd be out here and they said never because they could never turn a profit so i was surprised we even got it. Oh yea there's a secret trick to getting in the lake it makes it so i don't actually have to call you in, do this: 1. call 589-3215 2. say you wanna call someone in the gate 3. theyll ask for your name, you say "jordan smith" when they ask where you live say "17 overlook circle, in crofton section" and if they ask for your phone number tell them "589-3211" 4. then theyll ask who you're calling in and you give them your name. They have no real way of disproving that you're not jordan smith, so they gotta let you in hehe, or you can just let me know when you're tryin to come out and i can actually call you in if you're not into exploiting loopholes ![]() Roads you should look into (for fun): 1. 729 2. 616 3. 600 and the infamous broken island turn 4. Virtually any secondary road in the county Roads to watch out for cops on: 1. 618 2. 600 3. 616 4. 15 5. Anywhere at the lake oh yea, i bet you're pissed about shitty cell phone reception too hahaha i hardly get any reception anywhere in this god forsaken county (damn suncom to hell) - Feersty - 06-03-2004 How much do the houses go for in the lake? - Maengelito - 06-03-2004 Feersty Wrote:How much do the houses go for in the lake? too much for you pal... - .RJ - 06-03-2004 Get it right! Its "more than you can afford, pal". Fucking ricers

Well, I was interested to see that NTelos offers 1.5Mbps wireless access to much of the Charlottesville area. Lake Monticello and Scottsville are covered. Based on their coverage map, we're borderline (but it looks to be line-of-sight, and I have no problem putting an antenna up 60ft if need be). And if that doesn't work, I've already got the equipment needed for 128 Kbps ISDN, just have to get Sprint to run the digital phone line. And of course, the option of true last resort is Direc-Way (or similar satellite services), but those are expensive to install and I've heard plenty of horror stories regarding service. Considering that I'm posting this from a 28.8 dialup in Highland County, I guess even regular modem access wouldn't be life-ending. Of course I'd have to block images on this forum, since none of you morons can scale or compress them with any consistency  - JohnC - 06-04-2004 Feersty Wrote:How much do the houses go for in the lake? Our price range was under 200k, and we looked at something like 40 or 50 houses in and around Lake Monticello. Compared to NOVA, it's ridiculously cheap. And of course the area is growing tremendously, and property values are going up up up 8) - Mike - 06-04-2004 GG a house like that would be 400+ around here

Biznatch! - JohnC - 06-07-2004 Shameless cross post... Help us get to the new place! http://www.mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=592 - JohnC - 06-14-2004 First post from the new place! 465.6 kilobits/sec (58.2 kbytes) using Ntelos' wireless broadband (Navini networks). Better reception is sure to be found though... Max speed is claimed to be 1.5 mbits/sec.... - .RJ - 06-14-2004 Sounds like a powered antenna is in your future
