Sounds plausible if nothing else.
I came to the same "it makes sense" conclusion. Maybe I'll do the legwork on it after I finish my final paper for econ class... could be fun.

Whaaatever, riding a motorcycle is risky no matter how you slice it. You can play with numbers all day, but you still have a greater chance of being killed/seriously injured than I do, right now. If I get one then it changes for reasons stated above. Ride safe.

it's not as scary as Glebe Road - i'll tell you that much. I've had numerous encounters with idiot drivers on Glebe road, they definitely have a hard time seeing me and i'm all Yellow!

The thing with Glebe Road is that you've gotta stay out of the left lane and look way ahead to see when someone is stopped in the left lane because there'll be people trying jump over into the right lane and they may or may not look for you. Haven't had a problem so far but I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later though.

tought part is when i'm in the right lane people are trying to turn left from the on-coming traffic. I usually stay as right as i can so they see me since the cars in the left lane (usually stopped trying to make a left) are shielding me from the on-coming traffic. It's just tricky and people like to dart into and out of lanes. There was actually a point where a guy pulled into my lane and we shared a lane until i pulled infront very quickly and i turned around give him the finger - much like the Rossi incident. I also laid on the horn, but that didn't help. Evasive maneuvering is my friend.

I never had any problems getting noticed with no pipe at all... I never even got much more than a cursory glance from the local authorities, either. My riding buddies, though, I felt pretty bad for them.
