note to computer using public: macs run most of the same software as Windows based computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Explorer. The major difference is Macs are basically unaffected by Viruses and don't have any major problems.
It's basically this, "I can do everything you can do, better."
So, go buy a Mac and enjoy it.

the only reason i'd buy a mac is if i got really in to graphics... that apple color sync shizzle they have is pretty sweet. OR if i got a killer deal on one

I would buy a mac solely for a work/development computer just because of the underlying OS. Macs don't play new games, have nearly as much vendor support, or do anything good except simple stuff and tech stuff. As far as windows and viruses go, I've gone 6 years now w/o a virus. I haven't reformatted my original XP install on my home PC since I bought it 2 years ago. I can code 10billion times faster on a PC than on a mac because of the keyboard navigability (is that word?).
Keep your mac for design. I might get a powerbook for work. That's about it.

Mike I know of several Design Firms that have switched from all Macs to PCs. The Mac just doesnt have an advantage in the graphics market anymore (and hasnt for several years)
PCs are faster, cheaper (to buy and support) and more stable, and all professional graphics software is natively available for PCs.

Yes they are more expensive, but I just (6 months ago) replaced my daily user Apple iBook with the Dual Processor Power Mac G5 with an Apple Display. The iBook is now 3 years old and I still use it on a regular basis. The lifespan of an Apple helps defer the purchase price.
You can hate all you want and talk about things you've heard. But when it comes down to it, I switched 3 years ago and I'm glad I did.

You obviously havent run macs in an intensive production environment. Running design software or 3d apps in the art lab would lock the machine up on a regular basis.
They are the most unstable piles of shit I have ever encountered.
(and if you think spyware and viruses "dont affect" macs, you are completely clueless)
This is a stupid argument, and I dont feel like getting into it. I have used macs a good deal, and I dont care for them. Any part of them. You arent going to convince me otherwise, just like Im not going to convince you that there are superior alternatives to macs. If they meet your needs and you like them, I think thats great. I dont understand why people get so emotional over this stuff.
