Turducken Fall 2017 - Planning thread - Senor_Taylor - 10-03-2017 I think this will probably need to wait until 2018 where we can plan it better. I don't have the time/money/sanity right not to try to organize this with the E30 and pending apartment move. Plus there are no weekends in November that work except the first, and that's too soon. I wouldn't mind planning it, but if only 3 alum are interested/available there is little to no point to. RE: Turducken Fall 2017 - Planning thread - GTBrandon - 10-09-2017 Maybe we can do a small scale Turducken at somewhere local just to get some of the new members and alummi associated name to face. Like what if we went to one of the campsites at the top of 33 and brought food up there for a sort of impromptu picnic. I could look into the details, but if tents were brought then there could be arrangements for some camping at the top so nobody is driving half drunk down the mountain in the middle of the night. Just an idea so we can keep the tradition alive Turducken Fall 2017 - Planning thread - Senor_Taylor - 10-09-2017 We can just do it in the spring or early winter. Turducken is an alumni driven event, so it should be done when alumni can make it there. An event in Harrisonburg doesn't lend well to that without a lot of planning. Also how would a campsite work? Nobody is going to camp to do Turducken. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk The moral of the story is you need to plan well in advance. It's now too late to plan this event for 2017. We should look into early 2018. RE: Turducken Fall 2017 - Planning thread - GTBrandon - 10-09-2017 Why is nobody going to camp to do turducken, the whole point was that it doesn't have to be the same structure as all the other years, especially since it would be last minute this year. I was just trying to find an excuse to get everyone together. RE: Turducken Fall 2017 - Planning thread - Senor_Taylor - 10-09-2017 1) It won't be last minute 2) You've never been to a normal Turducken so you don't know, but you're not going to convince 20 MM alumni to go have dinner in the woods 2+ hours away. Especially in the winter. This event is supposed to be a nice, relaxed reunion of alumni and students to eat good food and enjoy each other's company. Shenanigans welcome, but lots of wives/partners come, and now we even have some kids that may be there. If you're really interested in giving suggestions, give me a call and I can explain a normal Turducken. I appreciate the ideas, however. Also forgot about the whole partners/kids aspect and oh yeah..winter is coming (am I the only one who hasn't seen a single episode of that show?) My schedule is packed anyway for this entire month, just thought I'd throw out some random ideas and see who bit. I mainly want to see somebody deep fry a frozen turkey and see how it turns out ngl |
