Re: 1989 Turbo II Mazda Rx7 - ScottyB - 09-12-2017 yeah that's odd, typically car 101 is that a low speeds, you have higher coolant temps and lower oil temps, and then vice versa as speed rises. do you have a fan installed, and can you confirm its pushing the air the correct way through the rad and not backwards? try getting that front plate out of the way. are rotary's a PITA to bleed air out of the cooling system? maybe a bubble is stuck in there. Re: 1989 Turbo II Mazda Rx7 - boosteddorito - 09-12-2017 Thats what I always thought too. I have the factory clutch fan still installed. I have another clutch fan at home I may just swap. Takes all of five minutes to do so might as well try and I need to find a better spot for my plate. I'm about to just pull the ac condensor also to improve flow. I found even minor adjustments to the plate's angle/location (and getting rid of the mesh), made all the difference. Also, did the new radiator do away with any factory plastic shrouds or undertray? Could be another big difference at speed too. RE: 1989 Turbo II Mazda Rx7 - boosteddorito - 02-08-2018 Small update. My rear calipers have started to seize and stick a little so I picked up some re manufactured calipers and painted black so they don't rust. Hopefully will be this weekend at some point. Its been a while since i've done any thing on this car so hopefully I don't round off every brake line fitting. Stay tuned. RE: 1989 Turbo II Mazda Rx7 - Gordonovski - 08-24-2020 What comes around goes around. This is mine now, bumping to the top so I can find on my phone to upload photos. After hassling Tyler since he bought this, he finally let me take it from him. Made it about 5 miles down 95 before a sticking throttle put me on the side of the road... ![]() But a few wrenches and the boys got me going again real quick. ![]() ![]() Main things I've done so far are battery relocation, shifter rebuild, painting the passenger side Turbo II skirts and putting the driver side back on (with plenty of zip ties), and installing some interior block off plates that Tyler had for a while to mount the fuel pump switch and AFR gauge. And removed the god awful tint. Cleaning up and giving it some attention. Plans are to rip it apart next year, straighten everything out, give it a nice paint job, and make it pretty. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
