i'd be really surprised if "re-fixing" the timing belt does anything for the oil consumption. Navins assessment still stands :?

That was my first thought but I didn't want to be the nay sayer. Doesn't make much sense to fix one part on a broken engine that likely needs to be replaced anyway.

I spoke with Ryan about this - sounds like the last timing belt job was done poorly and damaged a crankshaft seal or something, causing the massive oil leak.
