FWIW my pedal "feel" has not changed going from OEM fronts to HP+ fronts. HOWEVER, my pedal now engages lower. my new pads were bought used, and have less thickness than my OEMs. this would explain why the pedal engages lower, as far as i know. i would have thought the pedal would auto adjust, but it hasn't.

yeah I've noticed this in MB's. A lot of them seem to have a good amount of travel in the brake pedel before they catch. This makes for some abrupt braking if you're not used to it.

my xp8's make the pedal soft as shit in the paddock but they firm up quickly on track. my ultimates feel good on the street, in the cold, but i hear they dont do well to track duty despite what evan might say. pad compounds definitely dictate the pedal feel.

There is some meanness in here!!! I notice very little difference in the brakes (pedal feel) in my Sebring when I upgraded to Performance Friction pads and Powerstop rotors. The car stopped in less distance and had maybe just a touch better feel in the pedal. But ABS as modern as it is and the way brakes are designed as long as you have adequate fluid it shouldn't affect the pedal feel to much. But worn pads will cause an overstretch in fluid resources and that will cause a poor pedal. Cracked lines could also contribute to this, might check that out. Back on the Buick if the car is used to regular driving under normal circumstances I would buy AutoZoneÔÇÖs premium pads ($30) nothing more. A Buick shouldn't need $50 pads unless its like a Grand National (or you drive it like one

ABS only comes into play when you are braking enough to lock up the brakes and the ABS starts to modulate in order to regain the traction you've lost because the wheel(s) isn't spinning any more. ABS does not affect normal pedal feel.
You might not have noticed the difference with the PF pads but it might have been a matter of your sensitivity. The difference could have also escaped you because on the street you're not using 85%+ of you braking capability very frequently so you might not be able to appreciate the full range of feeling.

ok ok ok, here it boys. I'm not a dumbass, though I may sound like it from time to time. I respect the fellow with the Buick, if he autocrosses that bad boy I'd love to see it. Secondly, I can't spell!!! Sorry about "petal." Ok and finally, I KNOW WHAT ABS DOES!!!! I just figured I'd mention that to state the ÔÇ£modernnessÔÇØ of systems, how far they have come in monitoring themselves, brakes will often times let you know if something is wrong. I admit I'm never on the track with my car and itÔÇÖs only because I didn't understand the original poster's context (that he races the car that is) that I answered the way that I did. I'm not trying to steer anybody in the wrong direction, this is the second time I've been ÔÇ£correctedÔÇØ in here and thatÔÇÖs what I want, to learn more. Peace.

Brakes will "let you know" if something is wrong in any car - you just need to react to it before you crash and die
I dont know of any cars that have brake monitoring systems other than a low fluid light or some sort of low pad indicator. You can mointor line pressure if you're doing data logging though. Hmmm.... where's my Mycron system...

Burn me, I don't care...its over...lol I'm just trying to dig out of a hole and its only getting deeper. Take if for what it is. I can't imagine what would happen in here if you said something about someone's mother or something that is actually confrontational (ex- "Honda Sucks") I know what shitty brakes feel like, most people I ride with don't. I'll drive their cars and feel the pedal feel (which I can tell if its good or bad) and notice something else like feeler noise or a flicker in the brake light. I can read those things for what they are, I don't know about other people. This woudn't matter to my car or a buick but I think some cars do have pressure monitoring for the computers...I don't know if that controls the light or not.
