You'll notice the only people who sweat them are 30-something import drivers who coveted them as the pinnacle of an affordable import-mobile as a 90's teenager. That or people named George Knighton.

It's literally because the teenager and 20 somethings that had the integras and civics saw it as the "ultimate" FWD honda. Hell, the cobalt SS ran circles around the Integra type-R but you dont see many people sweating those things.

...and some of those are supercharged! How cool is that?

he went and did it, folks.

for your edification, the cobalt ss came out in 2005. that's four years after the last ITR left the assembly line... not of the same generation of cars/never really went head to head. cobalt ss was firmly in the BOOST ALL THE THINGS that began probably ~2002. not too amazing for a car with 1/3 more power to go faster around a track.

Well maybe, sure, but wasn't that 10 years later? I think the point is the Type R was a '90's legend that proved to me at least that FWD can actually kick ass. I too would be surprised if nice examples aren't worth a lot of $ someday.

*edit* yeah what he said.

But it has no cult following, because 20bajillion honda fanbois didn't aspire to it. I think you missed the point entirely, but that is typical mikey fashion.

I appreciate the Type-R for what it was, but at the end of the day it is still an integra with some strut bars  (I know it is more than that but I know Honda fanbois get all butthurt about it). I guess I don't get caught up in the "buzz" of fanboism since I still love American "crappy E36" vs the "true E46 M3".

You mean a 330i with brake ducts?

Don't get me started on ZHPs

944s had great balance (51/49)10 years before and no one likes those, so it ain't balance.

lots more expensive, no?

Now the goal posts are moving - you mentioned balance, not price. That said, they were both in the $20s new. Granted the 944 was 1980s money, but that means they were actually cheaper than the ITR when the ITR was being sold.

Back then it was the pinnacle of fanboi dreams. Today it's not much more than nostalgia for the same group of people.

Nostalgia for an ugly Honda. Why oh why did they not use the JDM front end over here?

That is about the weirdest Frankenstein project I've ever seen. It would be hilarious to hear big turbo noises coming from that thing.

or because at the time it came out it was _nothing_ other than an overpowered econobox. there are/were a lot of cars with a lot of power than in the right hands could be taken quickly around a race track  the ITR was pretty unique in its time. as you mentioned, it's more than an integra with some bars added. shit, i bet you could take a new altima around a track as fast as an ITR. next you're going to tell me the srt neon should be respected because bruh goes fast. of the exact same ilk as the cobalt ss.

make a point and i'll attempt to get it.

LITERALLY.

I'm seriously considering driving down to Japanese Classics and handing them all my money if they keep up with with these examples. I don't care if you don't think it's cool or not. I love it. Vinyl or no vinyl, RB20DET swapped Skyline saloon is hot.

Really researching a GTS4 sedan.....RJ will probably have a 911 before I get another fun car though.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - ScottyB - 10-25-2016

so what is the fascination with the GTS skylines? if you want a RWD coupe, i feel like the 240 does the same thing but with a better chassis and 1/10 the cost. then again it doesn't have a nice little straight-6 or the NOPI cred
