I hate 996s with a fiery, irrational passion, and I'd still take that over the XFR.

Lol...I guess I should remember the VAG-fanboi audience I am talking to

They also think a wagon with a drop and nice wheels is cooler than supercharged and V8 swapped M3s. Don't be offended, we all like our little fiefdoms.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - SlimKlim - 11-03-2015

It's not that I dislike a nice XFR, but if you're gonna ask me to choose between a VAG Turbo PorkChop and a Execubarge Kittyboat, it's gonna be the VAG.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - WRXtranceformed - 11-03-2015

Not offended in the least! Different strokes. I mean there are people who like to dress up and "identify" as girls and then raise a stink when they aren't allowed in the girls locker room, so nothing surprises me anymore no matter how crazy it seems to me.

Did I mention the XF comes with a 4 year warranty? Tongue

Gender dysphoria is a real thing, Lee. Whether you "agree" with it or not, the quotes really aren't necessary.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - WRXtranceformed - 11-03-2015

Maybe we can agree that VAG dysphoria is a real thing too?

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - SlimKlim - 11-03-2015

My VAG is fine just the way she is thank you.

GOD DAMMIT WHY DO THEY ALL HAVE TO BE SILVER

I share the same hate.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - SlimKlim - 11-03-2015

Like, I get that they're fast and reliable and stuff. But that doesn't change the fact that they look like they've been slightly melted, the interior is a dungeon of cheap, hard plastics and saggy, wrinkly leather. The shifter feels like a stick in a bucket of sand, the pedals are vague and smushy, just, ugh.

It's a good sports car, objectively, but it's a shit miserable excuse for a Porsche. Driving the 993, 996 and 997 Turbos more or less back to back will leave you lying awake at night wondering just what the fuck happened in Stuttgart in 1996. Were they angry with us? Is it something we did? I just don't understand it.

Yet, the call to VAG is still strong with this one. Is it a sickness or just a deep-seeded irrational love for things that aren't that great?

Says the owner of a Turbo-UV and the dont-call-it-a-comeback LuxoDestroyer with a gigantic swath of plastic for a dashboard. :-p

They might not do it for everyone, and that's fine, but I've loved almost every Porsche I've ever driven, except those made from '97-'04. (And maybe a 928 that wasn't running on all 8 cylinders anymore.)

The 930 Turbo was amazing and terrifying. The 4-speed is geared so that the minimum speed of 1st is just way too high, making it nearly impossible to manage in heavy traffic. The boost comes on like a ton of bricks and you regret not hitting the gym trying to shift it, but the experience of operating something like that is just insane. I get why those are six-figure collector cars now.

The 993 Turbo (the one I've spent the most time in) is more user friendly with the controls and much more confidence inspiring with the AWD, but still has alarming acceleration and the giggle-inducing elastic throttle of an old school turbo motor. Hands down, the best "Parts Car" any shop has ever had ever in the history of everything, can't believe I got to drive that thing as much as I did.

The 997 Turbo is what you would expect with a bloodline like that. It's gorgeous, the interior feels upscale but it's not blingy, the controls feel amazing, shifting gear is like loading a bolt action rifle.

That's why the 996 is such a thorn in my side, it's the only 911 I could currently afford if I really wanted one (not a turbo), and it's the only one I don't want to own. It's nothing like the generations before or after it, both in terms of looks and how they feel to drive, it's the definition of a redheaded stepchild.

My dash is 100% premium soft grain leather baby! Granted they didn't use the strongest glue on it back when so I have had to religiously (and successfully) keep a sun screen up in it when parked outside so it doesn't bubble

I do like the Destroyer moniker though, accurate statement

well, here you go Chris. 1 of 10 (the rest have probably become parts cars or caught fire), 6 speed swap. still not reliable, but hey you'll look pretty damn cool  $13K

Hi fellow rotorheads,

The time has come to list the 3-Rotor FD3S. This car has been an amazing journey. I've owned this since 2006. Its been a part of my life and soul. We've been through many ups and downs together. The thought of selling the car is the thought of selling a piece of myself. However, I wish to push the boundaries and build further and I wish for someone with similar visions to enjoy this work! I see no reason to touch anything on this car so therefore it must be listed!

This community is an amazing place. There are too many names to thank! This club has been a fountain of inspiration, friendship, motivation, and knowledge.

Rundown:
- D-Series, shipped in by my buddy from Okinawa Air force Base, rebuilt by Chris @ Banzai Racing Indiana, RA Super Seals
-BW S480 Turbcharger, Custom T51R insert, Billet Wheel, 360* Thrust Bearing
-4inch DP, 4inch Blast Pipe Titanium Catback
-99 Spec Body Panels, 8.8/10 paint, Shineauto Skirts/Diffuser, Stripped/Painted Back Half Interior
-DEFI Gauges, DEFI Tach, Adaptronic 1280s (tuned by Addicted Performance), Greddy Profec II
-Bride Seats, Sparco Harnesses, Kirk Roll Bar
- EWP Kit, Aftermarket Oil Coolers, Dual Walbro's, EXEDY Twin Plate, FMIC/Koyo N-Flo, Aeromotive FPR, 1680/850 Injectors, -AN Fuel Lines / Oil Lines
-Greddy Elbow, HKS GTII 60mm W/G, HKS Bov
-Painted, polished, powdercoated, etc
-RAYS Gramlight 57 Pros
-RX8 internals starter, Optima 1000CA Battery, 0 gauge relocation wire

RX7 Specialties Subframe Kit, Bump steer spindle correction, Delrin Motormounts

Tuning:
-500+ RWHP @ 10psi, 727RWHP @ ~22psi (coolingmist water injection)

Issues:
-slight tip-in hesistation at WOT stabs at 4k, just needs a few mins on dyno or datalog / correction

Over 400hrs has been put into this swap with extreme attention to detail. I love this car and I'm in no rush to sell. But, Its time to build another! Starting from scratch, using the new inspirations and knowledge in pursuit of a 4 rotor! This car is for someone who has similar visions for an RX-7.
Thank you guys!
