that's a perfect example of "this looked so cool in my head". its like a deflated balloon wearing shooting glasses.

i bet its a riot on a dirt road but i'd need to have a bag over my head to make that work

Safari 911s are mall crawlers for the 2018 yuppie.

Ehh I have seen them being used more often than not. If you follow the owners of the Keen safaris they are rich guys who constantly take them out into the woods and beat on them. That $400k example someone posted a few months back I am not sure if it gets used.

Bruh that's the Pandem widebody kit. Don't you know anything about scene points?

I'm most curious about the braces rubber band looking things connecting the front fender to the bumper.

Oh man, I'm glad this thread is back cuz I've been saving this one up for a while.  I've been seeing more and more of this ticky tack buuuuuuullshit on the street around me:

No, not the Chargers.  I quite like them actually.  The freaking yellow bumper protectors used in shipping the cars to the dealer are being kept by owners as an accessory.

And they look like ass.

And they're all sporting them like Hemi-powered lemmings.

Seriously, how could anyone think this looks good?  You got this tough looking muscle sedan (or coupe, Challenger owners are doing this too), and right as you're almost done admiring the handsome, mean looking front end, like an elephant turd in your Cheerios - tacked on yellow plastic.  Why?

They don't even look decent on yellow cars themselves:

Congrats on your new whip Bob, now take those god. DANG. things off!

Those quick disconnect things are pretty popular with drift Bois. Seem like a good idea.

You think leaving them on is bad? People are actually buying and selling them on Ebay! I've even seen someone paint their bumper to look like that. Not to mention it's just a peice of plastic that is going to rub the hell out of the paint when dirt gets in there.

RE: Heinous cars that are trying SO HARD to be well done! - ScottyB - 03-22-2019

i've wondered about those. i hope the next fad is leaving the car in the shipping jacket and just driving it around that way...its like leaving the tags and stickers hanging off your hat and wearing it unironically

I actually like the yellow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not clear on the rules for what we're supposed to like and supposed to hate.

RE: Heinous cars that are trying SO HARD to be well done! - JPolen01 - 03-22-2019

It's not the yellow that is the problem. I like the accent, especially on the battleship grey cars. It's that they are plastic protectors for use when shipping and look ridiculous on the lip in real life.

For me it's both.  Physically they look dumb but aesthetically, go out & paint two small lines on your car in some bright color.  Does that look better?

that's a perfect example of reasonable heritage trim. in this case VW has always used thin red accents on the front fascia of the GTI line and it ties in with all the rest of the red badging and accents. it also works well with their paint choices.

the mopar bumper boopers are highlighter yellow so people remember to remove them at the dealership and have nothing to do with anything trim related, and don't really work with half the colors anyway.

RE: Heinous cars that are trying SO HARD to be well done! - Goodspeed - 03-22-2019

What Scotty said. I actually dont like them either but way less bad than random bright yellow strips disrupting the entire front of the car. The bumper strips are totally tacked on physically & metaphorically.

Also "two small lines" does not an entirely traced out Tron GT-R make. That is actually badass & I'd rock the hell out of it

RE: Heinous cars that are trying SO HARD to be well done! - Apoc - 03-22-2019

What if they were a color matched, replaceable part to protect the lip from gouges?
