Kaan you know that's Joe Zarrella's car right? I think he does or used to do NASA stuff. Jake knows him.
Fun fact, my car used to grind and/or simply reject an upshift to 3rd gear, especially a hard shift. The first time my dad drove it, it kicked back into neutral and slapped the rev limiter, I think it freaked him out because he hasn't driven it since. It hasn't done it in at least 3 years, I'm not sure if I worked out the sticky spot or I just learned how to ask for it right.

I'm not sure why everyone's screaming "no" with it. Pretty sure I'll actually have it for the evening as another NASA guy out of NC may want it, and asked that I give it a once-over.
They're good cars, so long as the cooling system has been done, fluids aren't leaking too rapidly from anywhere, and the rear subframe is still mostly attached to the car.

My only major concerns would be that it had been overheated in a past life and is waiting to punish it's new owner for it, or the subframe is currently falling out. Both are easily inspected and pretty unlikely. I'm sure it does/will need a handful of bushings and some electronic crap, but what do you want for a <$4k 3-series.
I can't believe how cheap E46s are now, it seems like yesterday when a nice E46 330i was still $18k and a reasonably solid E36 328i was $6k.

This place shares a parking lot with the Jag dealer I take my car to, and every time I drive by it it makes me so happy. It is like a car guy's Candyland. I was having my latte this morning and browsing through their pre-owned cars that I could never feel good about spending that much money on.

Aside from any one of a handful of Astons, if I was to have a "supercar" to live with I am pretty sure it would be this one. I would not hesitate to take it on a trip across the country after getting some seat time in a V8 version years ago:
