Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - HAULN-SS - 04-18-2014 Edit: NVM. Missed the fine print - phaeton in lynchburg for <10 grand..but "making a noise" Are these really this cheap? Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - SlimKlim - 04-18-2014 Yeah. It's a 10+ year old dressed-down Bentley that no one wanted in the first place. 7-series and S-classes of the same vintage aren't going for much more than that. I just read this morning they are allegedly bringing it back in 2018-2019. I don't think the car was a failure, I think the marketing and pricing was a failure. Now that other "budget" luxury cars like the Equuis/Genesis Sedan and K900 have proven that there is a niche market that wants luxurious features but could give a rats ass about the badge on the hood, the VW stands a pretty good chance. They just can't price it like an A8 and expect people to buy the lesser brand for the same amount of money, it needs to start in the low 60s so it's poised to battle directly against the Koreans. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Goodspeed - 04-22-2014 Hey Subaru d00dz, this is kinda cool: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131171078763 $40k-invested, 5-speed swapped HPDE toy that "runs with Porsche 964's, BMW E36 M3's". $12k BIN. His brain-damage is your financial win! Dash only a mother, or someone weird enough to drive this AND a Saab, could love: Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - JPolen01 - 04-22-2014 The dash is weird? How about those fucking windows? Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - CaptainHenreh - 04-22-2014 I had one of these. White one. Neat car. Heavy as hell. Worth about 5.5 as she sits. Those brakes will literally catch fire with any kind of hustle around a racetrack. If you wanted a subaru track car spend 6 grand on the nicest bugeye you can find and 6 grand modding it. It'll be faster and more reliable in every respect. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - HAULN-SS - 04-22-2014 JPolen01 Wrote:The dash is weird? How about those fucking windows? How about those two-fucking shifter looking things in the console? Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Evan - 04-22-2014 that SVX is quite possibly one of the worst cars ever posted in this thread. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Goodspeed - 04-22-2014 Evan Wrote:that SVX is quite possibly one of the worst cars ever posted in this thread. That and the '75 911 Targa with a swapped turbo-rotary that I posted: http://mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7402&p=160086&hilit=rotary+targa#p160086 And the basketcase LS swapped FD recently. I may need to depart this thread for a while and think on my sins. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Evan - 04-22-2014 Goodspeed Wrote:fair point.Evan Wrote:that SVX is quite possibly one of the worst cars ever posted in this thread. I self-labotomied that targa from my brain. thanks for the reminder. but id take that pepboys FD before Id take the SVX. maybe Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - ScottyB - 04-23-2014 i wouldn't mind dropping that EG33 flat 6 into my RS. super cool, but the do not want factor outweighs this heavily Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - .RJ - 05-06-2014 http://www.petrolicious.com/this-bmw-e9 ... priorities I like
Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - navin - 05-09-2014 Not sure why... but kind of want: http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/4395106222.html + http://www.kmiata.com/ fack Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Kaan - 05-09-2014 navin Wrote:Not sure why... but kind of want: one of James Evans leftovers (JE Import Performance)... thats his new shop. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-09-2014 Ha...ha....hahahhahahhahhahahahahaahah Total conversion cost - $8-9,0000. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - navin - 05-09-2014 dang, stupid kmiata site is blocked at work. Someone copy/paste the price breakdown on parts for a brotha. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Kaan - 05-09-2014 i emailed it to you... they have TBD on some stuff... still lots of "custom" work to do. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Goodspeed - 05-09-2014 It's an awesome idea though, even at $8-9k. They can make rock-solid n/a horsepower numbers (230-250whp +) that you'd need forced induction to get to on the BP. And it costs an arm and a leg (more than 9k, for sure) to build a dead-reliable forced induction track Miata* - you're looking at 3k+ for a built longblock, nice manifold with inconel studs and locking hardware (~$1k), downpipe bracing, tons of cooling/ducting, etc etc etc. It gets into the $15-20k territory really quick, which is butting up against LS swap territory. *excluding the Rotrex s/c kits, which are pretty nifty - extremely efficient, cool running, self contained oiling, bolt-on in an afternoon simple. I'd build one of those for a track Miata unless I felt I really needed another 3k rpm in which case I'd go K series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=da97pJrVp7I
Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - navin - 05-09-2014 b00st + track car == headaches (or so it seems). Reliable NA power seems like the easy button, but then again I don't know anything about K-swaps. Only speaking from trolling miata forums, every serious track guy is salivating for the k-swap, but everyone tracking with a rotrex has been extremely reliable. Probably from the simplicity and gradual torque onset not breaking stuff. (fast) Guys with turbos running allofit tend to be broken all of the time. Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Kaan - 05-09-2014 just dont rev them past 9k without oil pump work... they love open exhausts and bolt ons. |
