So if he spent a lot of money on it it must be good right?

- WRXtranceformed - 07-28-2008

That is a huuuge turbo. What's the dynomat for under the hood though?? Turbo spool too loud... covering up the oontz??

- Evan - 07-28-2008

HOLY CRAP!!! 300zxclub awards!

you know goodspeed, we do have a thread for "cars that get you hot and bothered"

Looking at the engine bay and the placement, looks to me like a way to deflect heat away from the hood so that he doesn't cook the paint on the outside of the hood. Probably more of a reflective tape than a sound deadener.
Cool car, probably a hell of a lot better to work on than a VG-powered Z...

- ViPER1313 - 07-28-2008

$25g of parts and he couldn't make the front wheel gap the same as the rear? Epic fail.

Dynamat deflects heat? If that's true, that's a new one to me. Kind of a ghetto solution for someone who's put so much money into a car. I'd get a turbo blanket, ceramic coat it, or play with the mounting configuration (win) if I was that worried about my hood melting. FWIW the turbo on my old STi was about that close to the hood and I never had any problems.

The silver part will.

He should have gotten some of the pimpy gold heat reflective paper

- Evan - 07-28-2008

i thought dynamat was just tar paper and wasnt too good with high heat?

- WRXtranceformed - 07-28-2008

It looks like Dynamat makes material specifically for installation under hoods, but that stuff he has on is not it. What he's got on there is supposedly good to 300 degrees F...considering turbos get up to anywhere from 800-1300 degrees F I can't see that doing a whole lot.

- Kaan - 07-28-2008

think its got the 4wd set up in it? or just rwd and the RB?
