God an LS 8-series would be insanely awesome. I'm sure you could pick up a nice clean body with a shitty motor for pretty cheap too.

not so much cool, as much as cheap, RWD, reliable, hot looking, and RARE with the 5 speed. this would be a deal for one of you guys in school, and you could fix the BS minor issues as you need to with some MM buddies at a wrench day.

located down here in Raleigh.

"2002 Lexus IS300 - My wife says with 246k miles and bad A/C it’s time to retire her daily driver. The good - one owner car, 5-speed, limited slip, regular maintenance, wonderful and utterly reliable engine, heated leather electronic adjustable driver and passenger seats, sunroof, extra set of factory alloy wheels, leather interior is in excellent shape. The bad - the paint is rough (clear coat is peeling), A/C just died, intermittent check engine light triggered by one of the catalytic converters (on and off for up to a month - has not been a problem getting through inspection), roof rail trim missing on one side and the CD player doesn't work. Would make one heck of a track car but i have too many projects already. Asking $5,000. email if you want pictures."

Good deal, plan on about 500 bucks or more in bushings, though.

Looks to have potentially been in a front end collision on the driver side as well, unless that is just super low res / fuzziness from the camera on the passenger side headlight.

246k miles and $5k? Bad paint, No A/C, Possibly bad Cats and o2 sensors and no tunes for the same price as my M3 Sedan where everything worked and was really clean?

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - ScottyB - 01-06-2014

you sold your non busted M for 5k? crap...i didn't know that

No, the silver, excellent condition M3 sedan I bought (and proceeded to of course tear apart) was $5k. $5.5k on craigslist. I will take this everyday with 160k miles over a 246k mile busted-ass lexus.

sure...i had no idea people sold them for that with the bushings and cooling system intact and the interior not flapping in the breeze like a kite. i have a stupid soft spot for IS300's anyway.

Back on topic....yummmmmm. A bit overpriced but I love the way this looks.

God I love 997s. Maybe one day. Prolly not, but maybe.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - Goodspeed - 01-07-2014

That is a hot car that I like the look of, but I've always had a chuckle at P-car owners that tart up their base models to look like hotter offerings. I know Porsche themselves started it with the turbo whale tail on n/a Carrera's optional and "turbo look" widebody 993s and stuff, but its a bit try-hard, no?

Interesting concept. I guess I never really cared about bastardizing stuff since I love knockoff factory five cobras, LS1 Porsches/BMW/RX7s, aerokitted 911s and ebay exhausts

Agreed. Something about making a base model look like a higher model on a porsche just doesn't work for me. I had the same thoughts immediately when I looked at that listing. LSx cars are not even related to what Goodspeed is talking about. Those are fine.

Re: Cool cars for sale that ain't yours! - SlimKlim - 01-07-2014

Sort of off topic, but the modern deviation of the old duck tail spoiler on the new 991, well, it in and of itself sort of represents its effect on me.

Nothing wrong with any of that, if this 997 had a LSx hanging out the ass end of it I'd give it a big ol' . That's performance customization. And really, if it had a subtle RUF bodykit or whatever, I'd probably be cool with it. I just see this practice of mimicking a specific higher performance model of your car as a special kind of ricery. Kinda like the people that put M badges on their 318. Still looks good though, I just probably wouldn't be the one to do it. I'd drive it knowing that every car person that sees me would go "oh shit, a....waitasec...."

Best for-sale ad of a rusty '95 Civic DX, ever.
